SummaryThe Truman Show
Content
Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is just an average guy, with an average job - who lives in an all but to familiar suburbia surrounding. He has an attractive wife named Meryl (Laura Linney) and many friends throughout the town of Seahaven, off the coast of Tampa... or at least that's what he's lead to believe in this fantastic film from Peter Weir (Master and Commander, Witness). The truth is that Truman has been catered to his whole life, everything he has ever needed has been put in place for him, because he is living the biggest dream anyone could possibly imagine - he is living in his own television show. Since birth the giant set of Seahaven has been awaiting him and the actors who he calls his friends and colleagues ready to embrace him.

But Truman is curious and smart, so when past scenarios of warning about his fake life emerge as possible truths, he goes to investigate, only to find himself more confused than in the first place. He begins to notice how residents do the same things over and over again, like clockwork and how his wife seemingly advertises items to him as if they were commercials. The creator of `The Truman Show,' Cristof (Ed Harris) has watched him at every point in his life and is weary about Truman's inquisitions about the life he lives. Cristof admits that it is possible for Truman to leave the set of his life, but fear of exploration has been enforced throughout his life to make him vulnerable.

The young Screenwriter for the film was Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) and his thorough screenplay boggles the mind and spirit. We ultimately feel apart of Truman's life, just like the people who have been watching his show twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week for nearly thirty years. Truman shows us that everything isn't always as it seems and better things in life can always be attained if we only explore what it is that we have created for ourselves. The Special Edition DVD contains a Documentary about the making of the film, deleted/extended scenes, Theatrical trailers and more. In a somewhat overlooked film of the past ten years, the steady hand of Peter Weir guided Carrey to a win at the Golden Globes for his performance and Harris to an Academy Award nomination.

SummaryA Strange, Sci-fi/Comedy/Drama.
Content
The Truman Show is about a TV producer Cristof (Ed Harris in a brilliantly depicted role) who makes a show about a man named Truman. The show will go 24 hours a day every day of the year! Now, What actor will work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? That's right. No actor will! Because Cristof found a baby and filmed its birth, and then took the rest of its life and turned it into a TV Show. He made a gigantic soundstage (he fit a whole town in it and made a sea surrond it!) and he placed Truman in there to be filmed with the 5000 hidden cameras placed in the town. Truman (Jim Carrey who does a kind of serious, wacky role) is now in his late 30s and he still hasn't figured out the secret about this soundstage. He begins to see weird things though like every time he trys to leave the town there is a forest fire a nuclear plant leak or the traffic is mysteriously too bad. Excellent direction by Peter Weir (Dead Poets Society, Master and Commander)this movie sticks with you after you watch it and has a dramatic impact on you.
