SummaryRomeo Must Kiss Juliet
Content
Yet another Shakespeare adaptation...but with an epic appeal-to-the-mass-audience cop out. Romeo must kiss Juliet. Oh no, interracial sexuality...too risky. A truly disappointing strategic decision on the part of the producers.

SummaryA Jet Li Chick Flick!
Content
If this doesn't help Jet worm his way into American women's hearts, i don't know what would. In this film he is incredibly sexy and has fantastic chemistry with the beautiful and talented Aaliyah. The story is in line with the worst martial arts stories of all time, and the fighting is incredibly hokey, yet i dare any hot-blooded female to take her eyes off of him for one second! Jackie Chan - i love you too, but Jet Li has won my heart forever -- sorry dude.

SummaryLook Ma! The man is flying... Oh... Wait a sec...
Content
I understand that a lot of today's action films feature a numerous amount of scenes that can only be achieved with the use of wires, but at least they attempt too hide it. "Romeo Must Die" has to be one of the worst movies to ever use a wire. The characters can often be seen holding on to a mysterious, invisible force that has the ability to control their movements and keep them in continual levitation. THEY USED COMPUTERS TO GET RID OF THE WIRES, BUT THEY DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO HIDE THE GRIPPING HANDS!
Example: In the football scene, Jet Lee can easily be seen having his hands positioned over his head holding tightly on to what would be 2 wires. He is also seen to effortlessly glide forward throwing kick after kick only to stop in mid air and softly land.
Example 2: In one of the beginning night club fighting scenes, something happens that I would find embarrassing to put my name to. A man is standing with his arms placed comfortably behind his back. When he is attacked, the camera cuts to a different angel where he has a hand over his head "holding a wire". He proceeds to spin around at a horizontal angel to kick a guy, and then he effortlessly spins back around to kick someone else.
The movie is full of stupid crap like this.

In addition, the acting is bad, the story is flawed and uninteresting, and the action is questionable. The entire movie seems as if it was set up to sell a terrible CD. If I have to hear "Try Again" by Aaliyah one more time, I am going to give up out of spite.

I don't know what to say. Buy a better movie. Don't even consider this if you are looking for a good fighting flick.

SummaryIn sync plot with some twists
Content
I didn't think much of this movie until I heard about Aaliyah's death. Because of her death, I was compelled to watch this movie. She did a great job acting here and was one of the few female singers who was a great actress unlike certain talentless female celebrities who can't sing for jack (i.e. Brittany Spears). Jet Li was terrific here with his fighting and is a better actor than people give him credit for. Isaiah Washington is truly one of the most versatlie actors in Hollywood as he does a great job as Mac and Delroy Lindo does a great job as Issak. And wow Russell Wong's character pretending to be good when he's really a bad guy was pretty clever. The connections between Mac, Han's father, and Han's friend knocking off businesses and making Han's brother's murder a total mystery gave this movie some great twists. Oh yeah the action was great and there was great chemistry between Aaliyah and Jet Li. A must get for all Jet Li and Aaliyah fans!
