Background:

Following recurring roles on “CSI: Miami” and “What About Brian” (both 2007), American actress Jessica Szohr gained recognition for her portrayal of Vanessa Abrams on the popular teen drama series “Gossip Girl” (The CW, 2007-2012). She continued to receive notice for her performance on films such as “Piranha 3D” (2010), “Love, Wedding, Marriage” (2011), “Tower Heist” (2011), “Hirokin: The Last Samurai” (2012) and “The Internship” (2013). In 2010, Szohr was listed as one of People magazine's “100 Most Beautiful People in the World.” She was ranked No. 18  in FHM's Germany Sexiest Women in the World.

Szohr's fans should look forward for her work on upcoming films like “10 Cent Pistol” (2014), “Two Night Stand” (2014), “The Life” (2014) and “Nobody's Fool” (2014).

Szohr is a big fan of Green Bay Packers. Her hobbies include yoga, soccer, snowboarding and hiking. She is good friends with singer Taylor Swift.

Childhood and Family:

The oldest of five children, Jessica Karen Szohr, who would later be popular as Jessica Szohr, was born on March 31, 1985 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is of Hungarian and African-American ancestry. Jessica began modeling when she was six years old. At age 10, she made her national campaign debut for Quaker Oats, and did print modeling for Kohl's Department Store during high school. She also appeared in print ads for Crate & Barrel, Mountain Dew, Sears, Jockey and JanSport. Jessica graduated from Menomonee Falls High School, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin a semester early and headed to Los Angels at age 17 to pursue a career in acting.

The Internship

Career:

Jessica Szohr made her first appearance as an actress in an episode of “My Wife and Kids” called “Not So Hostile Takeover” (2003), where she played the role of Dee-Jay. Later that same year, she broke into the wide screen with a minor role as The MC in “Uncle Nino,” starring  Joe Mantegna, Anne Archer, Pierrino Mascarino and Trevor Morgan.   

Szohr guest starred in television series like “What I Like About You,” “Drake & Josh,” “Joan of Arcadia” (all 2004) and “That's So Raven” (2005), and made her TV movie debut opposite James Earl Jones, Joanna Cassidy and Douglas Spain in Hallmark Channel's “The Reading Room” (2005) before landing the six episode part of Laura on the second and last season of the ABC comedy/drama series “What About Brian” (2007), which was created by Dana Stevens and co-produced by J. J. Abrams' company Bad Robot Productions. The same year, she also appeared as Samantha Barrish in three episodes of “CSI: Miami” and played Nicole in the direct to video “Somebody Help Me.”

However, Szohr did not experience a huge victory until she was cast as Vanessa Abrams, Dan Humphrey's (played by Penn Badgley) childhood friend and occasional love interest, on the popular  CW teen drama series “Gossip Girl,” which premiered on September 19, 2007. She was part of main cast from first to fourth season and became a guest star in season 6.

While working on the series, Szohr also made a string of film appearances. She had a small role as Kara in Will Gluck's teen comedy “Fired Up!” (2009), played Kelly in Alexandre Aja's horror “Piranha 3D” (2010), where she was nominated for a MTV Movie Award in the category of Best Scared-As-Shit Performance for her role, appeared as Mandy Moore's sister in the romantic comedy film “Love, Wedding, Marriage” (2011), co-starred opposite Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear in “I Don't Know How She Does It” (2011), a comedy film adaptation of  Allison Pearson's novel of the same name, and was cast as Casey Affleck's wife in Brett Ratner's comedy “Tower Heist” (2011). She also starred in the indie action/adventure film “Hirokin: The Last Samurai” (2012, with  Wes Bentley, Angus Macfadyen and Julian Sands), Doug Karr's “Art Machine” (2012, with Joseph Cross and Joey Lauren Adams) and the British comedy/horror “Love Bite” (2012, with Timothy Spall, Luke Pasqualino and Kierston Wareing).    

After “Gossip Girl” came to an end, Szohr could be seen in David Worth's “House at the End of the Drive” (2012, starring  James Oliver, Jonathan Mangum and Alison Raimondi), David A. Armstrong 's “Pawn” (2013) and Shawn Levy's “The Internship” (2013, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson). She played the role of Lita on the drama/romance film “Brightest Star” (2013), which premiered at the Austin Film Festival on October 26, 2013 and was released in the US on January 31, 2014. On TV, she guest starrd as Jenny in the episode “Long Distance Tyler” (2013) of “Men at Work” and starred with  Hilarie Burton and Michael Peña in the Fox TV film “The List” (2013).  

Recently, in 2014, Szohr has completed filming a part in the Michael C. Martin crime/thriller movie “10 Cent Pistol,” which is set to be released on July 4, 2014, and a supporting role as Faiza on Max Nichols' comedy/romance film “Two Night Stand” (2014). In addition, she will star opposite Jerry Ferrara and Robert Davi in the upcoming drama film “Life” (2014), directed by Fabrizio Conte, will play Mira on the made for TV film “Nobody's Fool” and will appear on the upcoming TVs eries “Complications” (2014).
