Jessica Lucas was born on September 24, 1985, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to a black father and a white mother. She studied acting at Children's Theatre Arts from 1992 to 1994. 



Jessica Lucas has been acting since she was seven years old, and received theater credits in local productions of “Grease,” “Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs,” “Mousetrap,” “Cinderella” and “Music Medley.” Her first television role was as Rita in the 2000 episode “The Backstepper's Apprentice” of UPN's “Seven Days.”

In 2001, Lucas joined the cast of the CBS teen drama series “Edgemont” in its second season in the recurring role of Bekka Lawrence. She was promoted into a regular cast member in the following season, and would remain with the show until season 5. From 2002 to 2003, Lucas played the role of free spirit, fearless and bright Jakki Kaan on the Canadian children's TV series “ 2030 CE.” She starred as Sue Miller on the ABC teen series “Life As We Know It,” which ran for a season from October 7, 2004 to January 20, 2005. She also guest starred in “MTV's Now What?” (2001), “Romeo!” (2003) and “The L Word” (2004, playing Roxanne) as well as appeared in the TV films “Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge” (2001)and “Damaged Care” (2002).    

In 2006, Lucas made her feature film acting debut as Yvonne in the romantic comedy “She's the Man,” which was directed by Andy Fickman and starring Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, Laura Ramsey, and Vinnie Jones. It was followed by a supporting turn as Kate Tunney in the Renny Harlin directed supernatural thriller film “The Covenant” (2006). The same year, she also portrayed Heather Faustino in the made for TV film “Split Decision” and shot a TV pilot called “Secrets of a Small Town.” 

Lucas had a recurring role as Ronnie Lake in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in 2007 and guest starred as Kimberly MacIntyre in four episodes of The CW's “90210” in 2008. Still in 2008, she starred as Lily Ford on the J.J Abrams produced science-fiction film “Cloverfield,” which was a critical and commercial success, and played Lisa in the direct to video “Amusement.” The actress returned to series television as a regular when she won the role of Riley Richmond in The CW's “Melrose Place,” which ran from September 8, 2009 to April 13, 2010. She then starred as Riley Elliot, a bartender and Sara's roommate, on the NBC sitcom “Friends with Benefits,” which aired from August 5 to September 9, 2011. 2011 also saw her guest star in an episode of “Psych” and play Haley Robinson on the Martin Lawrence comedy vehicle “Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.”

Lucas played the leading role of Skye Yarrow on the psychological thriller “Cult,” opposite Matthew Davis, Alona Tal and Robert Knepper. The show ran on The CW for a season from February 19 to July 12, 2013. She was cast as Olivia in the remake of horror classic “Evil Dead,” which was released in the United States on April 5, 2013.

Lucas worked with Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller for the comedy film “That Awkward Moment,” directed and penned by Tom Gormican. The film is scheduled to be released on January 29, 2014 in the United Kingdom, and January 31 in the United States.

Lucas has completed filming the supporting role of Ariadne on the upcoming disaster-adventure film “Pompeii,” produced and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. It is scheduled to be released in February 2014.
