The Doctors Background: Jay McGraw, the son of Dr. Phil, is known as executive producer on the syndicated talk show “The Doctors” (2008-?), from which he has jointly nabbed a Daytime Emmy Award plus three nominations. He also has written several books aimed at young people based on his father's book. McGraw is married to Playboy model Erica Dahm. The couple has one daughter, Avery Elizabeth McGraw (born 2010). McGraw is a licensed pilot and has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is also certified scuba diver, an avid golfer and an athlete.
Childhood and Family: Jay Phillip McGraw was born on September 12, 1979, in Wichita County, Texas. He is the son of Dr. Phil, a television personality, author, former psychologist, and the host of the television show “Dr. Phil,” and Robin Jo Jameson. He has a younger brother named Jordan (born in 1986). Jay attended Greenhill School and later received a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Texas. He also attended Southern Methodist University, from which Jay got his law degree. On August 12, 2006, Jay married Erica Dahm (born December 12, 1977), one of the famous Playboy Playmate triplets. Dr. Phil was best man at the wedding, which was held privately at his home in Beverly Hills. Jay and his wife welcomed their first child, daughter Avery Elizabeth McGraw, on March 18, 2010.
Career: Jay McGraw has published several books aimed at teenagers based on his father's (Dr. Phil McGraw) books. They are include “Life Strategies For Teens” (2000), “Closing The Gap: A Strategy for Bringing Parents and Teens Together” (2001), “ Life Strategies For Teens Workbook” (2001), “Daily Life Strategies for Teens” (2001) and “ The Ultimate Weight Solution for Teens” (2003). Between 2004 and 2006, McGraw appeared as host of “Renovate My Family,” which aired on Fox. His future wife Erica Dahm also appeared in the show as part of construction team experts, along with her triplets Jaclyn Dahm and Nicole Dahm. McGraw serves as President and CEO of Stage 29 Productions in Los Angeles, a company he co-founded with his father. He was an executive producer on “Dr. Phil” specials like “A Dr. Phil Primetime Special: Behind the Headlines” (2005), “A Dr. Phil Primetime Special: Love Smart” (2006), “A Dr. Phil Primetime Special: Escaping Danger” (2006) and “A Dr. Phil Primetime Special: Caged?” (2007). Besides, he served as executive producer on the reality TV series “ Moochers” (2006) as well as directed and produced the direct to video “ A Real World Afterschool Partnership” (2006). In 2007, McGraw executive produced “Decision House,” a reality television series where couples enter on-camera therapy to save marriages. The show premiered on MyNetworkTV in September 2007 and lasted only for a single season Following the demise of “Decision House,” McGraw serves as executive producer on “The Doctors,” a syndicated talk show created by Phil McGraw. For his work on “The Doctors,” McGraw jointly picked up a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative in 2010.
