Jason Olive has become one of the most photographed men in the world. YM Magazine named him 'one the hottest supermodels ever…' Famed fashion photographer Bruce Weber and Interview Magazine predicted that, like the female superstars of the print world, Jason Olive was destined '…to become a household name.
Jason's career has not disappointed those lofty predictions as designers around the world have sought an image with which to reflect the timelessness and worldly beauty of their lines. Jason has been chosen again and again to represent them. He has become an international marquis image for the campaigns of Armani, Versace, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, Banana Republic, Levis, Gap, London Fog, Chloe, Ralph Lauren and more. He has also appeared on the cover of numerous national and international magazines such as Mondo Uomo and Best Looking, South African Elle, and the German based Das Spiegel, and American YM Magazine. London's Voice newspaper heralds him as, '…sexy, strong and extremely sweet…an adman's dream.
Jason's career however, has always taken a back seat to his two life long passions, acting and volleyball. Jason first got involved with acting at the age of nine through the encouragement of Jane Fonda. Even at this young age Jason knew he wanted to pursue acting seriously. Later, while attending the University of Hawaii on a volleyball scholarship, Jason met Professor Terrance Knapp and studied under him for four years. Jason says of Terrance, 'he firmly rooted me in a love and understanding of classic works, especially Shakespeare. He also inspired me to live - to view life - to be- an artist…even if he did kick me out of class a couple of times.
While at UH Jason helped lead the University to its first ever appearance in the Final Four. 'Being a part of that team,' says Jason 'was the greatest affirmation of what goodness, team work and persistence can produce.' He was named a First Team All American for his efforts and in 1995 he became the 33rd recipient of the Jack Bonham Award for excellence in leadership, academic achievement, athletic prowess and community service. Jason, was also the university's first ever recipient of the Governor's Award for academic excellence.
Jason graduated from the University of Hawaii's with a degree in English literature and a minor in theater. He left UH as a member of the Deans Honor Roll of which he was a member every year. He also had become a published and award winning poet. He is currently seeking a publisher for his new book Balancing the Limbo.
After leaving UH Jason spent a couple of years modeling, mostly in Europe and abroad. Upon returning to the states for good he began studying acting once more, this time in New York. There he studied with Allen Savage. 'It was a great class. Wonderful actors like Kim Cattrall and Michael Knight. I didn't know then of course that I would someday be working with Michael.'Afterward Jason left to LA where he studied with Ivanna Chubbick.' This has been a really extraordinary experience. Ivanna has been directly responsible for so many great performances. Most recently was Halle Berry's Oscar winning performace in Monster's Ball. Ivanna has been a great encouragement for me and great teacher. Whatever shell I had when I met her she ripped off and stuck in a deep dark closet somewhere. 'Finally, Jason landed at the Lewis Smith studio in Santa Monica. 'Rarely do you have the opportunity to work with someone who has been in so many films. Here students have the opportunity to be taught by someone who has done forty plus films. Lewis is such an inspiration in his desire to teach and give back to younger actors. There are things you just can't learn and just can't know unless you do them.
While in LA Jason shot Small Vices (directed by Robert Markowitz, starring Joe Montagne and Marcia Gay Harden) and Punks with Seth Gilliam. Jason also accepted a role as a contract player on NBC's daytime show Passions. In 2000 he starred in the Anne Rice/Peter Medak film The Feast of All Saints which aired in October 2001.
Throughout the year Jason donates his time and resources to numerous charitable caused such as YATI (Young Americans for Truth and Integrity) and Digs for Kids. An avid defender of the environment, Jason helped to create the Awareness Group. With the Awareness group he produced the worlds largest fashion show of garments made with organic cotton (no pesticides/bleaching) and other ecologically sustainable/human friendly fabrics. 'People always say "one person can't change the world.' They say it like some foul mouthed doll that just had its string pulled. To them I say, 'You're right. Especially not with that attitude! Attitude is everything so we need to pick good ones. The right attitude is 'be the change you want to see in the world.' Gandhi said that. He was one man. He changed the world.
Jason is presently working on ABC's All My Children. 'This truly has been a God send. To be working with a dedicated group of people who are committed to producing a fantastic show is wonderful to be a part of. What can I say? I love my job. I love who I get to work with. Besides I think my mom always wanted me to be doctor!
