Along with his three siblings, John, Aaron and Andrew, he spent his childhood in several different places until the divorce of his parents when Jason was around ten years old. He moved back to Minneapolis with her mother, where he enrolled at Richfield High School and graduated in 1992. He was chosen “Most Destined for Fame” by his graduating class. He made his first stage performance at age 5, and as a teen, he worked on numerous local theater and commercials. With a newfound fame, Behr tried his next luck on the big screen with the demanding turn as a young gay man unpredictably joined up with his alienated brothers and father under tense and potentially hazardous conditions in the Victor Salva directed “Rites of Passage” (1999).
