Emmy Award winner Jann Carl is a correspondent for the #1 magazine in
syndication, Entertainment Tonight.
Carl joined Entertainment Tonight on December 4, 1995 as a correspondent. Her
responsibilities include serving as anchor of the Entertainment
Tonight/Blockbuster Video in-store network, reporting general entertainment
news, conducting celebrity interviews, attending movie premieres and other
industry events, as well as making on-set visits to feature films and television
series.
Aside from her ET duties this past year, Carl appeared as herself in Warren
Beatty's feature film, "Bulworth" and co-hosted the nationally syndicated
"Blockbuster Entertainment Awards." She also co-hosted, with Jerry Lewis, the
Labor Day Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and received the
MDA's Paragon Award.
Before coming to ET, Carl was co-anchor of Los Angeles' #1 rated "News at Ten"
broadcast for KTLA-TV, a station she joined in 1987.
During her tenure there, she won three Los Angeles Emmy Awards for her coverage.
From 1984-87, Carl hosted and reported for KABC-TV''s "Eye on L.A." magazine
show. Her additional experience includes a 1983-84 stint as a reporter for WLS-TV
in Chicago, where she also anchored the local news breaks during "Good Morning
America."
A native of Carthage, MO, Carl graduated from the University of Missouri, with a
bachelor of arts degree in journalism.
She is married to cable television sales executive David Sears. They have two
children.
