Jamie Michael Waylett was born on July 21, 1989, in London, England. He has two brothers, Robert and Richard, and a sister, Lauren. When he was 9, Jamie was hit by a car. According to doctors, he had nearly no chance of surviving and if he did, he would be brain damaged. Jamie was in intensive care for three days and when the doctors were about to give up hope, a family friend of the Waylett's asked the doctors to check his blood. He was then given a blood transfusion and woke up in the following day and begin to improve. Jamie attended Emmanuel Primary School in London, where he was discovered by a casting agent while sitting in a classroom.

Spotted by a casting agent while sitting in a classroom in London, Jamie Waylett was considered for the role of Dudley Dursley before he was asked to play Vincent Crabbe. He debuted the role on “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone” (2001), the first installment in the “Harry Potter film series,” which was adapted from the “Harry Potter” novels by J. K. Rowling. Directed by Chris Columbus and scripted by Steve Kloves, the first film earned positive reviews from critics, made over $974 million worldwide, and was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Original Score, Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. It ranks No. 11 in the list of the highest grossing film of all time.

Waylett reprised the role of Vincent Crabbe in the second film “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002), which reunited the Columbus and Kloves team. The film was very well received at the box office with over $878 million worldwide. It is the 22nd highest grossing film of all time and the seventh highest grossing film in the Harry Potter series.

In 2004, Waylett resurfaced on the big screen with the third installment “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” which now was directed by Alfonso Cuarón. With an original budget of $130 million, the film grossed more than $796 million worldwide, making it the lowest amongst the eight films. It currently serves as the 32nd highest grossing film of all time. Waylett went on play Vincent Crabbe in the follow up “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005). Directed by Mike Newell, the fourth installment was nominated for an Oscar for Best Art Direction and won a BAFTA for Best Production Design. The film enjoyed an vastly successful run at the box office, collecting over $896 million worldwide, which made it the highest grossing film of 2005 and the eighth highest grossing film of all time at that time.

In 2007, Waylett returned with his role in the fifth film, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” which was directed by David Yates and scripted by Michael Goldenberg. Released in July 2007, the film was a commercial and critical triumph. It grossed over $939 million worldwide against a budget of $150 million, making it the fourth highest grossing film in the movie series.

In 2009, Waylett appeared in the sixth film “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” The film, which was directed by David Yates and written by Kloves, opened to critical acclaim along with immediate commercial success. It made $394 million in five days and eventually grossed a total of over $934 million worldwide, making it the 8th highest grossing movie of all time. The film was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Achievement in Cinematography. “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” marked Waylett last appearance in the Harry Potter movie series.

In April 2009, Waylett and a friend were pulled over by police after Waylett took a photograph of the officers' car when they drove past. The officers then looked for the boys' vehicle and found out a knife and eight bags of cannabis in it. The police went on to find ten additional cannabis plants in Waylett's mother's house.

A month later, Waylett was charged for drug possession. He pleaded guilty to growing the plants in his mother's home, but claimed that they were for his personal use and not for distribution. Waylett was sentenced to 120 hours of community service on July 21, 2009. He had been previously been accused of consuming cocaine in October 2006.
