 | A well rounded movie evocative of nostalgia, it is sure to melt your heart. We are given a glimpse into innocence that once was. Anna Chlumsky's flawless, natural, honest and mature portayal of the character Vada Sultenfuss is nothing less than perfect and Oscar-worthy. The movie is basically an intimate invitation to witness one eventful summer in Vada's life. It's about her relationship with her father and dead mother, her crush on Mr Bixley, her relationship with the cosmetologist who comes into their lives, her hypochondria and above all her adorable relationship with her best friend; Thomas J Sennett. This movie is Vada's naive yet insightful perception of life and death.
There is this one scene which brings tears to my eyes every single time I see it. And this one poem which breaks my heart everytime I hear it. I'm writing this review wishing I could give this movie ten stars instead. Definitely, one of my all-time favourites. A true classic. |

 | I`m sorry M.C., but this movie was out of control. I really wanted to see this, but when I did I didn`t like it. I love movies, but not this one. I have seen way better. I know no one is going to say this review is helpful, but these are my true feelings about this and I can`t say this in a another way. I don`t recommend this movie. But it does make you cry. I couldn`t finish watching this movie. That`s all. :'} |

 | I was born in 1991, so I didn't get to see it for a little while. My older sister used to watch it all the time, so I watched it with her. I loved the movie and wanted to watch it over and over. I think I was about 2, but I didn't understand most of the movie, I just loved it. I hadn't seen the movie for years and I still remembered the scene with Thomas J in his casket from when I was 2. Finally, I found the movie. I learned that it was called My Girl. I was reunited with my favorite childhood movie, which is still my favorite now. One of the best lines from this movie is: Weeping willow with your tears running down/why do you always weep and frown?/ Is it because he left you one day?/ Is it because he could not stay?/ He found shelter in your shade./ You thought his laughter would never fade./ On your branches, he would swing./ Do you long for the happiness that day would bring?/ Weeping willow, stop your tears/for there is something to calm your fears./ If you think death has ripped you forever apart./ I know he'll always be in your heart.
That is the poem that Vada wrote and read to the class at the end of the movie. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. |

 | My Girl
By Patricia Hermes
The book My Girl is about a young girl named Vada, her mother passed away and her father is and undertaker who works in his basement. Her best friend, and only friend Thomas J is a huge baby, he's never been inside her house and the other guys always pick him on. Vada and Thomas J spend almost everyday together, biking, swimming or just hanging out. Everything seems to be "okay" since they have each other, but when something terrible happens when they are swimming could Vada lose every thing she has?
I thought this book was very good, its one of those that keep you reading so you can find out what happens. My Girl also has a sequel called My Girl 2, and there are movies for both of the. I would recommend this book to anybody, it's a pretty easy read and very good.

 | This movie hits really close to home for me. My dad is a funeral director and we live over top of it. Also, I did not like my step-mother at first. This movie made me feel like it was made for me. It touched me and made me cry. My Girl is a classic film of a girl trying to grow up to fast in a time that was slow. Everyone I have ever talked to loves this movie. It will make a great addition for anyone. |
