Background:

American actress Isabelle Fuhrman is recognized for her performances on the 2009 horror/thriller movie “Orphan” and the 2012 hit since fiction movie “The Hunger Games.”

Fuhrman is an animal lover. She has dogs named Lilly and Jennings and once had a hamster named Lola. She took Lola to the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 for the premiere of her film, “Hounddog,” before her hamster died in 2009. Fuhrman is a fan of the legendary music group  The Beatles. She is close friends with actor Colin Ford.

Childhood and Family:

Isabelle Fuhrman was born on February 25, 1997, in Washington, D.C., to parents Elina Fuhrman (née Kozmits) and Nick Fuhrman. Her father is an ex- political candidate and business consultant, while her mother is a Russian immigrant journalist who has worked for CNN. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and now resides with her family in Los Angeles, California. She enrolled at  Buckley School, an exclusive private school in Sherman Oaks, before moving to Stanford University for high school. She studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. Isabell has an older sister named Madeline Fuhrman, who is a singer and songwriter.

Career:

Isabelle Fuhrman was discovered by a casting director from Cartoon Network while waiting for her older sister. Before long a then seven year old Fuhrman was cast for one of the Cartoon Netwoek shows, “Cartoon Fridays.” She later appeared on the pilot of the television series “Justice” (2006) and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (2006-2009), “Ghost Whisperer” (2008), “The Cleveland Show” (2009), “The Whole Truth” (2011) and “Adventure Time” (2013, provided the voice of Shoko).

Fuhrman made her feature film debut in “Hounddog” (2007), a coming-of-age drama film written, directed, and produced by Deborah Kampmeier and starring Dakota Fanning, Robin Wright Penn, and Piper Laurie, along with Fuhrman. The film was panned by critics and was a box office failure. She next landed the starring role of Esther on the psychological horror thriller film “Orphan,” from which she won a Fright Meter for Best Actress and was nominated for a Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Dublin Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance, provided the voice of Hatchling Shelly on “A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures” (2010) and portrayed Angie Vandermeer in “Salvation Boulevard” (2011), a  comedy/drama/thriller/action film starring Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Greg Kinnear, Marisa Tomei and Jim Gaffigan. She starred opposite Mädchen Amick and Jason Isaacs on the TV film “Pleading Guilty” (2010).             

In 2012, Fuhrman was cast alongside big names like Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland on the Gary Ross directed science fiction adventure film “The Hunger Games,” where she played the role of Clove. The film received positive reviews from critics and was a huge box office success. The same year, she provided the voice of Shelly on the film “A Turtle's Tale 2: Sammy's Escape from Paradise.” She went on to star as Michelle on the 2013 drama/adventure movie “The Between” (2013).    

Fuhrman starred with Evan Ross and Danny DeVito on “All the Wilderness,” a drama written and directed by Michael Johnson. The film premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival on march 9, 2014 and is scheduled to be released theatrically in the US on February 20, 2015.  

Fuhrman has completed filming a role opposite Liana Liberato and Jessica Alba in the upcoming drama film “Dear Eleanor” (2015), for director Kevin Connolly. She will star with  Anna Camp and Justin Chatwin in “One Night” (2015) and with Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack in the horror/science fiction movie “Cell” (2015).
