The Hills Background: “A lot of miracles have happened in my life to take me here and to me, the reason why we're all on this earth is for God, and that's the way I live my life.” Heidi Montag American television personality and singer Heidi Montag was shot to prominence as the star of MTV's “Laguna Beach” spin-off hit, “The Hills” (2006-2008), alongside ex-best friend Lauren Conrad and current husband Spencer Pratt. A former event planner at Bolthouse Productions, she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for her performance in the reality show. After her television victory, Montag hit the music industry in late 2007 and throughout 2008 with a series of digital singles like “Body Language,” “Higher” (#7 on the iTunes Top 10 pop chart), “No More,” “Overdosin'” and “Partys Wherever I Am.” Her first full-length album is scheduled to be launched in spring 2009. Montag is also an aspiring actress and fashion designer. In April 2008, she released her clothing line named “Heidiwood” at a fashion show at the Hollywood and Highland shopping center in Hollywood. One of Maxim magazine's “Hot 100” (2008), Montag has graced the covers of CosmoGirl (October 2007), Maxim (February 2008) and Rolling Stone. In February 2007, she was featured in an eight-page article in Stuff magazine. As one of “The Hills” stars, Montag's love life was documented in the show. In season one, the show featured her relationship with actor Jordan Eubanks (born on September 23, 1984, in Kinston, North Carolina), which lasted from 2005 to the spring of 2006. In May 2007, Montag proclaimed her engagement to fellow Hills cast member Spencer Pratt (born on August 14, 1983, in Los Angeles, California), whom she had dated since the 3rd season. However, in December 2007 during the show's finale, the couple called it quits. Pratt later said during a broadcast of Ryan Seacrest's radio show that he was attempting to win her back. Eventually, Montag and Pratt married on November 20, 2008, in Mexico. The marriage was considered not-valid because they never attained a marriage license and there was no civil ceremony. Currently, Montag and her husband reside in Hollywood, California. In April 2007, Montag had breast augmentation, rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and collagen lip injections. She revealed the information in September that same year. Montag is no longer best friends with Lauren Conrad. The two had a continued feud after Conrad claimed that Montag spread sex-tape rumors about her and then boyfriend Jason Wahler. Commenting about the allegations, she stated, “God knows the truth in all of this, and at the end of the day, that is the only thing that matters. Jesus was persecuted and I'm going to get persecuted, ya know?” She added, “I never could be friends with a low-life like that.”
Childhood and Family: Heidi Blair Montag was born on September 15, 1986, in Crested Butte, Colorado, where her parents own a popular restaurant named The Timberline Restaurant. Her last name means Monday in German. As a child, she loved dancing. After graduating from high school, Heidi spent a year in Italy studying fashion before relocating to San Francisco where she enrolled at the San Francisco Academy of Art. It was there that she met Lauren Conrad. After only one semester at the academy, they two decided to transfer to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. Once in L.A., they moved into an apartment together. However, in 2005, Heidi left her studies after she found the Institution did not give her enough of a challenge. On March 3, 2008, Heidi lost her stepbrother, Eric O'Hara, who died after falling from an icy roof. O'Hara was a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq and served with the 82nd Airborne Division. Heidi stated, “Losing my brother at an early age is such a tragedy. I just loved him more than anything. He was just so patriotic. He really wanted to go to Iraq and help and do all that he could for his country. He felt like it was his duty. I'll really miss him.” Eight months later, on November 20, 2008, Heidi and longtime beau Spencer Pratt were married in a secret ceremony in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico.
Career: After dropping out of L.A.'s Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Heidi Montag decided to pursue Public Relations. She took an internship with Bolthouse Productions and finally landed a position as an event planner with the company. She was later fired. However, it was her affiliation with Lauren Conrad that opened Montag's door to show business. First meeting at San Francisco's Academy of Art, the pair became friends and moved into an apartment together following their relocation to Los Angeles from San Francisco. Because of their friendship, in 2005 Montag was featured in four episodes of “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County,” which was a reality TV show broadcasted on MTV. The friendship between the two landed Montag a featured role on the “Laguna Beach” spin-off, “The Hills.” Debuting on May 31, 2006, “The Hills” featured Montag in each episode during the first and second seasons. She continued to appear in the third season and the forth season, which was started on August 13, 2004, and August 25, 2008, respectively. Since her first appearance on the show, Montag's popularity increased because of her developing romance with costar Spencer Pratt and the decay of her friendship with Lauren Conrad. In 2008, Montag received a nomination for Choice TV Female Reality/Variety Star at the Teen Choice Awards. Lured by her success on “The Hills,” Montag branched out to the music industry and began to work on an album with producer David Foster in February 2007. By August 2007, her song “Body Language,” which featured Pratt rapping, had made its debut in Ryan Seacrest's radio show. The David Foster-produced “Touch Me” leaked on the Internet in December 2007. Montag released the single “Higher” on February 5, 2008. A digital released single, the song rose to No. 7 on the iTunes Top 10 pop chart. The music video for “Higher,” which was directed by Pratt, earned blistering reviews from readers and websites across the Internet. Her second single, “No More,” followed a month later. She released the song through iTunes. June 2008 saw the release of “Fashion” and “One More Drink.” She next launched the single “Overdosin'” on the Internet in August 2008 and the song went on to receive a mixed response from the public. She again shot the video music with her lover, Pratt. She said, “Overdosin' is about when you fall in love with someone, about how I feel about Spencer (Pratt) and my relationship.” The song “Partys Wherever I Am” was leaked on the Internet in September 2008. According to TMZ, Montag will release a self-titled debut album in spring 2009. In a blog on her official website, she confirmed that the first single from the album would be “Hot,” which is slated for a March 2009 release. “I also plan to win an Oscar. I'm very ambitious.” Heidi Montag Montag has also showed an interest in acting. On January 12, 2009, Montag appeared in an episode of the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” titled “Benefits.” Pratt was also featured in the episode.
