British actress Hannah Tointon is best known for portraying Katy Fox on the long running Channel 4 soap opera “Hollyoaks” (2007-2008), from which she took home a British Soap Award, and  Hannah Schoen in the film “Walking with the Enemy” (2013), where she won a Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival Award for her performance. She also has appeared in many other television series like “Kerching!” (2003-2006), “Dream Team” (2005-2006), “The Inbetweeners” (2010) “Switch” (2012), “The Hour” (2012),  “Penny Dreadful” (2014) and “Mr Selfridge” (2015).

Childhood and Family:

Hannah Marie Tointon, who would later be popular as Hannah Tointon, was born on December 28, 1987, in Southend, Essex, England, to parents Ken and Carol Tointon. Along with her older sister Kara (born 1983), she was raised in Leigh-on-Sea and attended St Michael's School, Leigh, and St Hilda's School, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.   

Walking with the Enemy


Hannah Tointon made her television acting debut by playing the regular role of Tamsin, the love interest of the main character Taj Lewis, on “Kerching!,” a children's comedy drama which aired on CBBC between 2003 and 2006. She went on to play the role of Billie in the TV series “Star” (2003) and land guest spots on “The Bill” (2005), “Murder City” (2006) and “New Tricks” (2006). She also had recurring roles in Sky1's “Dream Team” (2005-2006) and the sitcom “Genie in the House” (2006), where she portrayed Savannah Caskey and Annabelle, respectively, and an uncredited part in “Just My Luck” (2006), an American romantic comedy film directed by Donald Petrie and starring Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine.  

Tointon's big break arrived when she was cast as Katy Fox, younger sister of Warren Fox, on the Channel 4 soap opera “Hollyoaks” She made her first appearance on April 30, 2007, but later on November 3, of that year it was announced that she had left the show to try new things. For her work on the series, Tointon won a British Soap for Spectacular Scene of the Year, which she shared with Gemma Bissix, Jamie Lomas, Chris Fountain and Matt Littler.

After departing “Hollyoaks,” Tointon appeared in an episode of “Doctors” called “Safe Haven” (2008), as Emma Lewis, an agoraphobic pupil, a separate character to her previous “Doctors” stint. Besides, she starred as a rebellious teenage girl named Casey in the British horror film “The Children” (2008), opposite Eva Birthistle as her mother. In 2010, she played the character of Tara, the girlfriend of Simon, in three episodes of the Channel 4 sitcom “The Inbetweeners” and worked with  Sean Bean, Corey Sevier and Sam Claflin in the Syfy post-apocalyptic film “Lost Future,” directed by Mikael Salomon.        

In 2012, Tointon starred alongside Lacey Turner, Nina Toussaint-White and Phoebe Fox in  ITV2 supernatural drama “Switch,” where she played the role of Hannah Bright, the traveler of the group. The show ran from October 15 2012 to November 19, 2012. She then played Kiki Delaine in several episodes of the BBC drama series “The Hour” (2012). The same year, Tointon also made guest appearances in the E4 series “The Midnight Beast” (playing Dru's girlfriend) and “Sinbad” (playing Kuji).   

Tointon starred as Hannah Schoen in the American action/drama film “Walking with the Enemy,” bu director Mark Schmid. The film premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival on October 13, 2013. For her bright performance, she picked up the Stars On Horizon Award at the 2013 Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival, an honor she shared with co-star Jonas Armstrong.   

Still in 2013, Tointon portrayed Katy in the film “Young, High and Dead,” Jessica in the short “Crazy for You” and Maggie in another short film called “The Body.” She also made guest appearances in “Love Matters” and “Midsomer Murders.”

In 2014, Tointon appeared as Maud Gunneson, an actress and the object of Caliban's affection, in several episodes of the British-American horror drama television series “Penny Dreadful.” She also guest starred in the television series “Death in Paradise” and “Call the Midwife” (both 2014).

In 2015, Tointon appeared as Violette Selfridge in the series 3 of the ITV period drama series “Mr Selfridge.”

Recently, Tointon has completed filming the leading role of Madeline Chaddock in the British movie “Captain Webb,” opposite Warren Brown and Steve Oram.
