Childhood and Family:
On January 7, 1988, Haley Keeling was born in Fort Myers, Florida, to Leilani Dorsey Bennett and Ronald Keeling. She lived in Stow, Ohio, where she attended Lakeview Intermediate, Kimpton Middle and Stow-Munroe Falls High School. She attended Barbizon school for modeling and acting in Akron, Ohio, as well as studied music and acting at Barron Collier High School in Naples, Florida.
In the summer of 2005 during her senior year, Haley and her mother moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her career. On her spare time, she enjoys songwriting, writing poetry, singing, reading, boxing, working out, and hanging out at the beach. Haley, nicknamed “Halo,” also loves Mexican food.
Music and Lyrics
Having been acting at school plays and other similar things since she was 10, Haley Bennett met her then agents Mara Santino and Ryan Daly of Kazarian/Spencer & Associates in 2001 when she competed at the IMTA Convention. She was discovered three years later in 2004 on a summer vacation in Los Angeles and was given a chance to meet with a record producer while viewing guitars once played by Jimi Hendrix. In the following year, after graduating high school in 2005, she and her mother moved to Los Angeles to pursue her singing and acting career.
The aspiring performer immediately signed a three-picture deal with Warner Brothers Pictures. In her first job, she plays teenage pop star Cora Corman in writer/director Marc Lawrence's musical/romantic comedy film, "Music and Lyrics" (2007), alongside Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. For the role, she beat out over 600 girls and was asked to drop 10 pounds even though she was already very thin. She also sang several songs for the movie soundtrack, including "Buddha's Delight" and "Way Back into Love."
Meanwhile, the newcomer appeared in the February 2007 issue of GQ in the GQ/Features section. She also signed with 550 Music/NuSound Records (part of the Epic Records family of labels), and began working on her first album with the aid of singer/songwriter Shaley Scott.
In the following year, Bennett appeared in three films, Deb Hagan's comedy "College" (starring Drake Bell, Andrew Caldwell, and Kevin Covais), Mickey Liddell's horror "The Haunting of Molly Hartley," in which she stars as the title role opposite Chace Crawford and Jake Weber, and David Frankel's dramedy based on the 2005 bestselling memoir by John Grogan, "Marley & Me," starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston.
Bennett will soon complete her upcoming film projects, "Arcadia Lost," a drama by Phedon Papamichael in which she will co-star with Nick Nolte, and "The Hole," a thriller by Joe Dante in which she will act opposite Chris Massoglia, Nathan Gamble, and Teri Polo.
Meanwhile, Bennet performed her first live concert at The Mint in Los Angeles on June 19, 2008 and appeared in the October issue of Teen Vogue in the Young Hollywood section. The talented singer is also in the process of recording her debut album.
