SummaryPretty cool movie
Content
I thoroughly enjoyed Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It has all the Australian charm of a Neville Shute novel but with more modern characters. I especially liked how this movie shows that families can be made up of anyone.

SummaryFantastic Movie!!
Content
Back in 1994, I went to see this movie on a whim because there was nothing else playing at the time. I tell you, I was so thoroughly pleased, entertained and touched by the perfomances and storyline, I went back to see it again! At that time, the only actor I knew of any fame was Terrance Stamp, but the other two gentleman (Pearce and Weaving) have both gone on to be huge actors in their own right. Each of these gentleman bring depth and consistency to their characters and you find yourself really pulled into their journey across the Outback. You find yourself laughing, rejoicing, crying and just feeling wonderful when they perform their acts and interact with each other and those around them.

Watching the growth and the bonding between the characters is quite touching. And just when you think, the movie will take a full sappy/serious turn, it instead injects light-hearted comic moments which pull you in even further.

This is a Cult Classic and a genuinely terrific movie! The colorful costumes, the music, the acting and the many characters they meet alone the way truly is a feast for the eyes and spirit.

SummaryYou will love this
Content
One warning: if you are a big fan of Terrance Stamp or Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith in the Matrix movies, this will be somewhat of a shock.

Stamp plays a transsexual, Bernadette, in this wonderful Aussie movie mourning the loss of her husband, by taking up an offer taken up by Weaving's character, a drag queen, to do shows at a club that, we later learn is owned by Weaving's estranged wife. To add to the two is an obnoxious young man, another drag queen, played by Guy Pierce.

As the club is quite a distance away-and they cannot afford to take the trip by airplane, they end up buying a bus they nickname Priscilla, Queen of Desert.

Along the way, they encounter all sorts of characters and events, including one where Pierce's character nearly gets killed by homophobes.

But the real fun is in the costumes they wear. Deliciously over-the-top and flamboyant, and often worn while lip-synching to cheezy disco tunes, they bring even more color to the story.

One warning: this is a Australian movie, so often the characters engage in dialogue filled with incomprehensible slang. You might at times need to watch the tone of the characters speech to understand what, exactly is said (often sexual in nature)

But if you don't mind that, and how strange it may sound to hear Agent Smith talk in an Aussie accent, be my guest

SummaryHILARIOUS AND TOUCHING
Content
PRISCILLA is one of the most hilaroious films I have ever seen, and surprisingly one of the most touching too, IT's a rare thing for a film to be so funny and touching. The film is well written and directed and the casting is pitch perfect. HUGO WEAVING and GUY PEARCE are excellent, but it's TERRENCE STAMP who steals the show as an over the hill transexual. What makes STAMP even more enjoyable is that it's a role yu would've never expected him the play. After all, this is the guy who played GENERAL ZOD in SUPERMAN II. This is a film everyone should see.

SummaryGood Times!
Content
This film was such a blast! The three main characters were just marvelous, and their performances really do make you feel good. As it was noted by another reviewer, sure the dialogue is a bit cliche ridden with the bitchy attitude and such, but who cares, it was a great joy to watch and it was such a fun ride!
