 | There aren't many '70's movies that can stand the test of time, but this is one of them! I recently watched this one again and enjoyed almost every minute of it.
Those of you that have never seen this are in for a real treat. Those of you that HAVE will enjoy yourselves when watching it again.
I remember the first time I saw this. I was amazed that a movie could have me jumping in one scene, and then laughing hysterically in the next.
It's a "whodunit".
It's a comedy.
It has an elaborate swinging singles apartment.
It has car chases.
It has dirty scrabble playing.
It has disco music.
It has snakes.
It has karate action.
It has a dwarf.
It has an albino.
It has a man-with-a-scar.
It even has opera!
What more could you want?
And the price is right!
Definitely worth adding to your DVD collection! |

 | I think this is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. As a plot though it has so many holes it makes a Swiss cheese look like solid rock. What was on the film? Why did the bad guys drive their own car with their own license plate on it? Why didn't Whitey take Gloria after he killed Scarface instead of kidnapping her in the next scene someplace else? Since they thought she had the cigarettes, why didn't the bad guys look through her purse before they locked her in the room instead of just leaving the purse there beside her? I was on the bad guys' side as far as their ideas went. In any other movie sans a murder they could have been the good guys. And that for years has been my only objection to a suspenseful, exciting (really) and absodamnlutely hilarious movie. |

 | This delightfully 70's nostalgic romantic comedy has been all but impossible to find in the video rental stores. I don't much like Chevy Chase, but he fits right in to this movie with all the other oddball characters, and Goldie Hawn sparkles and shines. There are so many over the top funny scenes in this film, many of them could be classics. And even with all the comedy, the bad guys are scary enough to put some real tension in the story. This is a great movie to curl up at night and watch with your partner. |

 | I have been waiting for this for quite some time now. I saw this movie when I was a kid (hell, I was only 8 when it came out) and I still laugh my ass off when Goldie Hawn tries to off Billy Barty as the Bible Salesman because the dying Scotty left her the message "Beware of the dwarf...." Hysterical. Chevy Chase's first leading role. Shades of Caddyshack and later Fletch in his performance. You can't go wrong with this nostalgic look back at the late-70's. Burgess Meredith is classic as Goldie's snake-loving, karate-kicking landlord and the pre-Arthur Dudley Moore is a riot as the perverted English symphony conductor Stanley Tibbits. Still packs a lot of laughs even after all these years. Enjoy it before Hollywood goes and taints its memory with a remake. |

 | That Richard Pryor-Gene Wilder vehicle was an earlier imitation Hitchcock attempt by writer Colin Higgins. it was mostly done in by bi-sexual fellow actor Patrick McGoohan (of THe Prisoner) and his cold homophobia and non-chemistry with the other actors. IN this Foul Play everyone has great chemistry with each other. Hawn is ultra-superb in the lead. Chevy Chase's finest screen performance and good turn by Burgess Meredith as Hawn's concerned landlord. Plenty of action and comedy tying in better than it all did in Silver Streak. |
