A participant on CBS hit reality game show "Survivor," Gervase Peterson whose trade mark is his perpetually clean-shaven head became popular in Hollywood, appearing in a number of TV shows, including on CBS cop drama "Nash Bridges," ABC sitcom "The Hughleys," CBS long-running soap opera "As the World Turns." He also appeared in the films White Men Can't Rap (2005), 13th Grade (2005) and Hell's Threshold (2006). He will appear in the upcoming films Jersey Justice and Leaf.

Childhood and Family:

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Gervase Peterson was born on November 2, 1969. His father was killed in a car crash and his mother subsequently became the main provider and greatest influence for Gervase, his two brothers and sister. After graduating from Holy Cross High School in Delran, New Jersey, Gervase attended Lincoln Technology where he earned electronics degree.

Gervase has four children. He named his youngest son Gunnar Tiga Peterson: "Gunnar" because he thought it sounded like a "survival" name, and "Tiga" after "Pulau Tiga," the island Gervase was on for the show "Survivor" at the time of Gunnar's birth. In his free time, Gervase enjoys spending time with his family, sports, reading and catching the latest movie. He also dedicated his spare time teaching a basketball clinic at a local YMCA. As for 2000, he resides in Willingboro, New Jersey.


Hell's Threshold

Career:

In the summer of 1999, Gervase Peterson was prompted to submit a video tape for an audition for an upcoming CBS reality game show titled "Survivor," in which about 16 contestants are isolated in a remote location and compete for cash and other prizes about 16 individuals stranded on a deserted island left to survive on their own skills. He took acting lessons for 2 years and 4 weeks of swimming lessons before appearing on the show which was set in the South China Sea on the remote Malaysian island of Pulau Tiga. He survived in the show for 16 episodes (2000-2001) until he was booted from the former Pagong tribe.

Following his appearance in “Survivor,” Peterson was invited in such national television program including NBC nightly hour-long comedy talk show "Late Night with David Letterman," NBC's long-running late-night talk and variety show "The Tonight Show," syndicated daytime talk show "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and the syndicated talk show "Live with Regis and Kelly." He also showed his acting and comedic talent on such programs as comedy and game show "The Hollywood Squares," CBS cop drama "Nash Bridges," ABC sitcom "The Hughleys," CBS long-running soap opera "As the World Turns," VH1's “The List” and MTV's contest show “Say What Karaoke.” Additionally, he displayed his hosting skills at MTV Sports & Music Festival 4: The Ultimate Survival, MTV's Seaside Survivor, MTV's Music Video Awards, MTV's Spring Break 2001, Survivor The Phenomenon, KCBS, The Early Show and The Today Show.

After appearing in Tamiko Joye Ball's 28-minute drama film L-o-v-e (2004), Peterson made his big screen debut with a bit part in writer-director Rick Morris' crime comedy movie White Men Can't Rap (2005). That same year, he followed it up with a co-starring role opposite Tim Carr in writer-director JJ Garvine's comedy movie 13th Grade. He also returned to the small screen in the comedy-thriller TV movie The Scorned (2005).

Recently, moviegoers saw Peterson starred in Felix Diaz's 2006 horror film, Hell's Threshold. He just completed writer-director John Charles Hunt's action-thriller film called Jersey Justice and is currently filming writer-director-actor Tim Carr's sport movie, Leaf.
