American actress Genesis Rodriguez rose to prominence after playing roles on the Telemundo television telenovela series “Prisionera” (2004), “Dame Chocolate” (2007) and “Doña Bárbara” (2008).  She has transformed into the big screen since 2012. Her film credits include “Man on a Ledge” (2012), “Casa de mi Padre” (2012), “What to Expect When You're Expecting” (2012), “The Last Stand” (2013), “Identity Thief” (2013) and “Hours” (2013). She will star in the upcoming films “Run All Night” (2014) and “Tusk” (2014).

Rodriguez speaks both Spanish and English fluently.

Childhood and Family:

Born Génesis Rodríguez Pérez, on July 29, 1987, in Miami, Florida, Genesis Rodriguez is the daughter of José Luis Rodríguez 'El Puma,' the renowned Venezuelan singer and actor and Carolina Perez, a Cuban model. She has two half-sisters, Liliana and Lilibeth (from her father's side). Genesis has been acting since she was a child. She was educated at the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami, Florida and attended summer classes at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. After moving to Los Angeles, she trained with Marjorie Ballentine.



When she was 4 years old, Genesis Rodriguez performed dance in the Venezuelan television series “El club de Los Tigritos” (1994). She did not return to the small screen until a decade later when she won the role of Libertad Salvatierra Santos, daughter of Guadalupe, on the Telemundo television telenovela “Prisionera” (2004). It was broadcast in 16 countries around the world. She further gained notice with her performances on “Dame chocolate” (2007) and “Doña Bárbara” (2008), where she played Rosa 'Rosita' Amado / Violeta Hurtado and Marisela Barquero Guaimarán, respectively.     

In 2010, Rodriguez landed a recurring role as Sarah on the HBO hit comedy/drama series “Entourage.” She appeared in three episodes: “Stunted” (2010), “Dramedy” (2010) and “Out with a Bang” (2011).

In 2012, Rodriguez made her theatrical film debut in the Asger Leth thriiler “Man on a Ledge,” opposite  Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie and Ed Harris. It was followed by a starring role on the Spanish-language American comedy film “Casa de mi Padre” (2012), opposite Will Ferrell, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, and a small part as Anna Kendrick's roommate on the comedy/drama film “What to Expect When You're Expecting” (2012), helmed by Kirk Jones.

In the following year, Rodriguez portrayed the supporting role of Agent Ellen Richards on the  Kim Ji-woon directed action film “The Last Stand,”starring  Arnold Schwarzenegger, Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville and Rodrigo Santoro, was cast as a criminal named Marisol on Seth Gordon's crime/comedy film “Identity Thief,” starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, and starred with Paul Walker on the thriller film “Hours,” which was directed and written by Eric Heisserer.     

Rodriguez will work with Michael Parks, Justin Long and Haley Joel Osment on the upcoming horror film directed and written by Kevin Smith, “Tusk” (2014), which is based on  the 259th “SModcast” episode “The Walrus & the Carpenter.” She is set to play Gabrielle on Jaume Collet-Serra's upcoming film, “Run All Night,” opposite Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman and Ed Harris.
