Background:

English actress, television personality and glamour and lingerie model Gemma Atkinson rose to prominence after playing Lisa Hunter on the television soap opera “Hollyoaks” (2001-2005). She also played the role on the spin off shows “Hollyoaks: Let Loose” (E4, 2005) and “Hollyoaks: In the City” (E4, 2006). She came fifth on ITV's “I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!” (2007). Atkinson's film credits include “Boogie Woogie” (2009), “Night Wolf” (2010), “Airborne” (2012) and “The Sweet Shop” (2013).

The green eyed beauty has supported several charity events, including for breast cancer awareness and New Children's Hospital.    

Atkinson was once in relationship with Football star Cristiano Ronaldo. She was engaged to Marcus Bent but they have since broken up. Since 2009, Atkinson has been together with martial arts instructor Liam Richards. The couple were engaged in August 2012.

Career:

Gemma Atkinson first attracted the attention of public when she played Lisa Hunter on  Channel 4 teenage soap opera “Hollyoaks,” opposite Marcus Patric. She was on the show from 2001 to 2005. She also played Lisa on “Hollyoaks: After Hours” in 2004, and along with Patric, she starred in a spin off series for E4 called “Hollyoaks: Let Loose” in 2005.  Atkinson again reprised the role of Lisa on “Hollyoaks: In the City,” which ran on E4 from August 14, 2006 to December 13, 2006.

In 2007, Atkinson appeared as a contestant in the television reality shows “Soapstar Superstar” (ITV) and “I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!” (ITV). She finished at the fifth place on both shows. In 2008, Atkinson made her debut video game appearance in “Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3,”  where she played Lt. Eva McKenna. She reprised the role on “Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising” (2009). In December 2008, she played the title role, opposite John Thomson who played Captain Hook, on the theater production of “Peter Pan” at the Manchester Opera House.     

Atkinson made her feature film debut as Charlotte Bailey in the British independent film “Boogie Woogie,” which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June 2009. She  next portrayed Karen in “Baseline” (2010) and Emily in “Night Wolf” (2010). Besides, she guest starred as Ria Crossley, the girlfriend of a drug dealer, in an episode of “The Bill” and co-starred with Jo Price and Ben Loyd-Holmes in the made for TV film thriller “Black Book” (2010).  

Back to the stage, Atkinson played the role of Elaine on the West End production of Tim Firth's “Calendar Girls” at the Noël Coward Theatre, from July 28 to October 17, 2009. She also toured with “Calendar Girls,” but played Celia aka Miss September, in the production from January to April 2010. The production also starred  Lynda Bellingham, Judith Barker, Debbie Chazen, Letitia Dean and Jan Harvey. Atkinso starred as Belinda in Neil LaBute's “This Is How It Goes,” which ran from Sept 7 to Oct 3, 2010 at  The King's Head Theatre in Islington, London.  

From 2011 to 2012, Atkinson portrayed Tamzin Bayle in the BBC medical drama soap “Casualty.” She was an additional cast on “The Hamster Wheel” (2012). Atkinson could also be seen in a string of films such as “How to Stop Being a Loser” (2011), “Airborne” (2012), “Devil's Pass” (2013), “The Sweet Shop” (2013), a romantic comedy about a Hollywood superstar and a small town sweetshop owner, and “Night of the Living 3D Dead” (2013). She made a guest appearance as Becky Bryson in an episode of “Law & Order: UK” called “Paternal” (2013).    

Atkinson, who had a breast enlargement surgery in early 2006, also has enjoyed a successful career as a glamour model. She has done provocative photo shoots in lingerie and swimwear for men's magazines like FHM, Loaded, Maxim, Zoo, Arena and Nuts. She has released calenders yearly since 2006. Atkinson made her debut in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women list in 2006 at No. 32. She moved up to No. 23 in 2007, rose again to No. 18 in 2008 and fell to No. 81 in 2009. She was ranked No. 46 on the  AskMen list of “99 Sexiest Women of 2008.”
