 | I bought this album as an audio cassette when it was first released. It's always a joy to see how good it was played by Eric. Then I bought the CD. I rented a VHS tape and since then I waited long enough to buy the DVD version. It was a concert experience you rockers (especially guitar lovers)out there should not dare miss in your collection. Even I will not have a chance to see Eric in person, at least I have this DVD. It's simply amazing!!! You'll watch it over and over again. |

| Back in 1997, when dvds were introduced into the US market, "Eric Clapton - Unplugged" was one of the first ones on the shelves. And, there can be no doubt why....
This is a gem, among gems!! Knowing, the immense notoriety this performance has gained, it's funny to think Eric originally didn't want to release it, because he thought that it would only appeal to a small section of his fanbase. He said that he always enjoyed playing these classic, blues, numbers on his acoustic guitars at home, but never realized that other people would find them of interest. Well, being that this is probably, the most popular 'Unplugged' performance from the series, I guess he was wrong, and thankfully so. In fact, this is what inspired him to take on his next project, "From The Cradle" (See my review for that one).
As good as this dvd is, I hope that Warner/Reprise will see fit to release an updated edition, which adds a DTS* track, as well as extras, that include the complete MTV interview with Alex Colletti** and the following unreleased tracks: "My Father's Eyes",*** "Circus Left Town"^ and "Worried Life Blues"*** (See setlist below). The first two tracks were reworked and released on "Pilgrim", but the original, raw, acoustic versions are priceless!!
