Game of Thrones


British actress Emilia Clarke is most popular for portraying Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series “Game of Thrones” (2011-?), for which she has nabbed an Emmy nomination. She was ranked No.1 on the Independent Critics List of the “100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2012” “and was voted No. 1 on the Ask Men list of “Top 99 Most Desirable women of 2014.”

She is set to play Sarah Connor on the forthcoming Terminator movie, “Terminator: Genesis” (2015).

Clarke is highly trained at alto, ballads, blues, cabaret singing and jazz singing. Her sport skills includes ice skating, swimming, horse-riding, running, sailing, rowing, skiing, and tennis.

In Spring 2013, Clarke suffered a brain aneurysm and was treated at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.      


Childhood and Family:

Emilia Clarke was born on May 1, 1987, in London, England, UK, to a business woman and a theater sound engineer. She grew up with her brother in the Berkshire countryside. At 3,  Emilia attended the performance of “Snow Boat” and subsequently fell in love with drama. She was educated at St. Edward's School of Oxford from 2000 to 2005, where she appeared in two school plays, and then at the renowned Drama Centre London, where she participated in 10 plays. Her nickname is Milly.

Terminator: Genesis


Emilia Clarke began acting in school plays, and in 2009, she appeared in the Company Angels production of “Sense.” She also appeared in a 2009 commercial for Samaritans. Her first television role was as Saskia Mayer in an episode of “Doctors” called “Empty Nest.” It was followed by a notable supporting role as Savannah in the made for television film “Triassic Attack” (2010), starring Steven Brand, Kirsty Mitchell and Raoul Trujillo.

Clarke's big break arrived when she was cast as Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO medieval fantasy series “Game of Thrones,” which is based on the book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R. R. Martin. The series premiered in the United Stated on April 17, 2011. For her bright performance, Clarke won  the 2012 Gracie Allen Award in the category of Outstanding Female Rising Star in a Drama Series or Special and the 2013 SFX Award for Best Actress, and was nominated for a 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She also received many other nominations such as a Satellite nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television, two Screen Actors Guild nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Monte-Carlo TV Festival's Golden Nymph nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series.  

In 2012, Clarke made her feature film debut in the British drama “Spike Island,” opposite Elliott Tittensor, Nico Mirallegro and Jordan Murphy. The same year, she starred in the short film “Shackled,” directed by Nour Wazzi.

In 2013, Clarke was cast as Jude Law's long-lost daughter in “Dom Hemingway,” a British black comedy/crime drama film directed and written by Richard Shepard. The film was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2013 and was released in the UK on November 15, 2013. The same year, she provided the voice of Marianne in an episode of “Futurama” called “Stench and Stenchibility.”

Recently, in 2014, Clarke was nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress.

Clarke will play Sarah Connor on the upcoming Terminator movie, “Terminator: Genesis,” which is scheduled to be released on July 1, 2015.
