 | For a sequel coming out in 1990. Going up against other sequels such as Die Hard 2, The Godfather part III, Predator 2, Robocop 2, and Young Guns II... all released in the year 1990. With actors that got older and were probably a little less funny from the original 48 Hrs. However done the same style by the same director... with an even bigger cast than before.
Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy... if you don't know them by now, you're truly missing out. For both of the actors this probably was one of their last better films to be watched in and loved, by everyone.
The late Brion James... a very underrated actor who has done over a hundred movies. Best known in other movies such as The Wrong Guys(Louie Anderson), Blade Runner(Harrison Ford), and Tango and Cash(Sylvester Stallone). As a helping detective, he's one of the best co-stars to any action movie.
Ed O'Ross... another underrated actor who I like a lot. Not his best role but as a helping detective also to the case of bikers, he fills in his part. Best known for films such as Red Heat(Arnold Schwarzeneggar), and The Hidden(Kyle MacLachlan)... movies you got to see right now if you haven't already.
Andrew Divoff... best known for his villian roles in Wes Craven's Wishmaster, and Air Force One(Harrison Ford). As the head biker, brother to the escaping convict in 48 Hrs... played the part tremendously I thought.
Walter Hill has given us yet again another action comedy. I personally rather see Trespass(Bill Paxton), another great film of his. All I can say is... watch Another 48 Hrs. If you liked the first you'll definitely love the second. Its two star actors are older, but its story holds just as strong as the first with its excellent cast. As a sequel... Another 48 Hrs. is finished solid! |

 | Since there are plenty of reviews on content, I will keep this short. I picked this movie up at a bargain bin price, and do not recall watching it before. All I can think of is the mug shot of Nick Nolte. There is not much comic relief by Eddie Murphy in this movie. There are some action scenes, but nothing spectacular.
The picture transfer to DVD is grainy (especially in bright scenes), with a 5.1 track that has some impact on explosions.
This is an OK bargain bin purchase, if you want to add it to your collection.

 | Here, the sequel to 48 Hours which catapulted Eddie Murphy to stardom in 1990 does not quite recapture the magic of the first movie. Sure, the action is loud and sometimes hilarious as when Reggie Hammond, ex-Con, tells the people in the nightclub, "Anyone else want a limp?" This is just after he shoots a huge wrestler type bad guy who was going to attack him right in the left kneecap. I liked the action scene with the creepy shootout in the seedy San Francisco Chinatown hotel where the dynamic duo track down the long haired hippie like biker assassins. There is a twist, of course, in fact there is a double twist to the tale. The main culprit called the "Ice-man", who is a big time drug dealer, turns out to be someone very close to suspended Police Inspector Cates played by Nick Nolte. Nolte looks a bit old and haggard in this movie. He really needs plastic surgery and Botox if he wants to play any more lead roles. No love interest, just the crazy buddy-buddy antic of the 2 unlikely heroes. watch it when you are bored and have nothing better to do. Enjoy! By Dr. Michael Lim The Travelling Gourmet |

 | They get in fistfights again, they still treat eachother like dirt, Eddie does "Roxanne" again, Nolte shoots at the guy holding a gun against Eddie's head again, another redneck bar, the same "sky blue Cadillac", the list goes on and on. Never have I seen a sequel so desperate to cling to its predecessor as this one. And sequels are NOTORIOUS for clinging to their predecessors ("American Pie 2" and "American Wedding" anyone?). It has its moments, but trouble is you've seen most of them before when they were still fresh and original. Worth renting if you're a fan of the original, but certainly not a "must-own". |
