SummaryLots of Gore
Content
People don't watch films like this for the plot or acting. Good thing. The plot is tired and the characters only exist to become death fodder.

People watch films like this because they think its cool watching new, novel ways to mutilate two-dimensional characters. If that is what the viewer wants, that is what the viewer gets. From the first scenes to the last, characters are cut, slashed, burned, squashed, and otherwise wiped out. The director does a better than average job of filming the gore. Even though I don't like this type of film, I have to admit I was impressed with the creativity. I didn't know there were so many ways to film accidents. I never suspected that an exploding barbecue grill could do so much damage. In this particular cut and slash film the director gets to kill off the characters more than once. Now that's a lot of bang for the buck!

I have only two suggestions. If you are watching the film with a group of friends, get some sodas and pop corn. If you are watching the film alone, don't waste your time going through it in the usual, slow way. It is quit easy to predict when the cool stuff is about to happen. Keep a finger on the remote control and zoom through the film, only slowing down for the really neat stuff. Then you can back up to slow motion and watch it all again. This way you can see every body get killed four times and get it done in about an hour!

SummaryAs the dominos fall--what?
Content
I enjoy watching Final Destination and Final Destination 2; and I hope that they come up with a Final Destination 3, 4, 5,... that are as entertaining as the first two.

Final Destinations are unique among slasher films. There is no scary monster going to jump out and get you. It is Death that sets off chains of events that lead to death. (I wondered how Death could be the means and the end (death)in The Seventh Seal. How odd that a lark of a slasher film would answer that question.) Sometimes Death gets no one; and sometimes it gets someone else instead.

As each domino in an incident falls, you're led to believe that whoever is the current focus will die in a particular way. For example: A man shoots at a bird on the wing (Please miss!). The bullet misses and hits a tree branch instead (Thank heaven!). The branch falls and breaks a power line that whips back and hits the man, who fries (That was weird!). That is only a couple of sets of cause and effect. Insert several sets of cause and effect between a first and last and you have each incident in Final Destinations.

The fun is in being misled by the clever twists that run through the chains of events that lead to death. Final Destinations are not serious treatments about cheating death--they're not meant to be.

SummaryTHE GRIM REAPER HAS AN AGENDA...are you on his itinerary?
Content
This movie has a great idea: Death has a formula, and when you mess it up, it has to do some overtime...Great supernatural concept edging on the time-space conundrum of when we leave this place called earth...DON'T FEAR THE REAPER hahahahaha....

In this teenage horror film, a young man avoids the hand of death, only to find that he can't get away from it so easily. On the way to Paris with his high-school French club, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) has a vivid premonition of the plane crashing and killing all its passengers. After Alex and some other passengers demand to be let off the flight, his premonition turns out to be true, and the jet explodes during takeoff. While the FBI is convinced that Alex was involved in some kind of foul play, the passengers who got off the flight are all dying in horrible ways, as if whoever determined that the passengers would perish is punishing those who cheated death.

SummaryCould have been good
Content
"Final Destination" contains some of the silliest death scenes I have ever seen. I actually held out a little hope that it would be at least a little bit above average given its premise. But, no it is a typical, by-the-numbers game of "who's next?" If that's what you're looking for then have at it. I guess I just shouldn't have bothered. The movie I really wanted has already been made. Rent "Fearless" instead. Its a serious explorarion of how it might feel to cheat death.

SummaryFun...Gory...Imaginative
Content
Since when did reviewing a movie mean "tell the entire storyline of the film in 2 or three paragraphs"? I just don't understand people who feel the need to spell out the entire plot of a film in order to review it. First of all, if you are reading reviews of a teen oriented horror film, you probably aren't too worried about the plot. And for a change, Final Destination has a cool little story, that is better left seen than read. If you don't know what the storyline is......good. Go into the movie with a vague notion that it's a pretty imaginative and fun splatter flick and let the story unfold. The special effects are great, the acting is above grade for the usual B-Movie, and the opening sequence will definately root you to your chair for the rest of the flick. If you like horror & sci-fi movies you will enjoy Final Destination.
