 | Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is excellent. It's Burton's dark vision, mixed with song and humor. It's different than the 71 version and more faithful to Dahl's book. The best part is Depp, who gives an excellent performance. He's starting to become my favorite actor. |

 | The main reason I didn't like this movie is because they made all these unnecessary changes from the book, though some were tolerable like the mini factory made out of bad toothpaste tops that Charlie had. In a way it expressed his desire to go to the chocolate factory, but I think if Roald Dahl didn't do it Tim Burton shouldn't either. Another intolerable unnecessary change was the very sappy ending and all of the flashbacks that Willy Wonka had, these flashbacks showed how he was neglected by his father, that didn't allow him to eat candy. Of course Willy Wonka ran away, But in the end Willy comes back to his father and then they play the soft "touching" music for the audience. Besides all of the changes the movie, it was very funny, entertaining and the children were well done, except I thought augustus gloop's german accent was pretty bad. The best part of the movie was with the Oompa
Loopas. They were very entertaining, their songs were well done and Tim tried to make each song a different genre of music like that Violet Beauregarde had an almost techno song or Veruca Salt had a country ballad. In the end the changes had almost butchered the movie but the movie itself was funny, entertaining and at the end you would want a bar of chocolate.
I am still going to buy the movie. |

 | There is only one way to describe this movie, wierd. Totally wierd. Now this movie has it's cons and pros
Pros:
+Jhonny Depp is great.
+They showed what the bad kids looked like in the end
+Alot funnier
Cons:
+They messed up the Willy Wonka song.
+They should not have added the ending (last 10 minutes)
+A little too goofy
Overall 4/5
It would have been a 5 if they kept the original Wonka song. YOu should watch it. I'd reccomend it,and it's worth it! |

 | I had to see this version to compare it with the beloved first movie starring Gene Wilder. Definitely different! I have not read the book, but supposedly the Willy Wonka character is a bit more eccentric, and yes, Johnny Depp did a great job of protraying that. He has always been wonderful at throwing himself completely into character.
The kids were okay, but I guess I am already biased toward the first movie (and I have seen it a lot lately as it is one of my three-year-old's favorites), but I feel that the kids in the "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" did a much better job, and were more believable. Of course I loved Gene Wilder as he was a more endearing character. Not to totally 'dis' this movie - it has marvelous special effects, and the glass elevator part was my favorite (it made me wish I could ride in one!). Of course Mr. Depp looked great in the Wonka outfit.
It is hard to say which one I would prefer if I had just seen both for the first time...but I would probably pick the warmer, friendler version, not the remake. |

 | Maybe if I didn't read the book and watched the original movie I would have given it 2 stars, but I did too much. It was different then both of them. Both of them were better.
The oompa loompas (I hope I spelled it right.) are not like the original ones. There songs are good, but I absolutely love the one in the original movie. I think they had the hardest part in the movie which is pretty sad to me seeing as Johnny Depp or whoever plays Charlie should.
The part about Willy's childhood was sad but made no sense. How do you love teeth better than your own child? Did the dad only search for him when he made candy? Why could Willy just let them live in the factory in the first place? His family is not all that bad. Just because he didn't get enough love that doesn't mean he can't either.
I liked how they showed the outcome of the other Golden Ticket winners.
