Born 28th. November, 1962. He is a British film maker.He grew up in Toronto,
Canada. His father was an accountant. He had an elder brother.He studied at the
University of Western Ontario.
He worked in a middle management job at the advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather
in London's docklands.
He met Elton John in October 1993 when a friend invited him to a dinner party at
Elton John's mansion in Windsor. The next day Elton John invited him back to the
mansion. Within a few weeks they were attending a film premier together.
They set up the company Rocket Pictures and David Furnish began to make films.
His first project was Tantrums & Tiaras which was a warts-and-all
fly-on-the-wall documentary about Elton John. It was nominated for a Bafta award
in 1996.
On the day that the Queen's birthday honours were published on 14th. June 2003
The Guardian recommended David Furnish for the alternative award of CBC:
Companion of British Celebrity. Alongside a photograph of David Furnish with
Elton John the award was described as: "For services to the famous from the less
than famous, and all those who maintain relationships with celebrities against
the odds".
