Wakeboarder
Background:
A successful gymnast-turned- the world’s best women’s wakeboarder, Dallas Friday
has built impressive achievement since making her debut as professional
wakeboarder in 1999. She has won four gold medals at the X-Games, the 2000
prominent Americas Cup title, the Gold at the ESPN X-Games and the NBC Gravity
Games. She also captured first place finishes in the 2001 Malibu Open, the first
two Pro tour stops, the Vans Triple Crown Ford Ranger Pro, Cable Wakeboarding
Nationals, and the X-cup. She won the 2001 World Cup.
In late 2006, Friday was sent to a local hospital after an accident at the
Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup series event in Singapore. She plans to be back
in 2007 in the 48th Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament as soon as she
recovered from the injury.

Childhood and Family:
Dallas Friday was born on September 16, 1986, in Orlando, Florida. Her mother is
Darla Friday and her father is Robin Friday Sr. She has a brother named Robin.
Dallas attended and graduated from Boone High School.
Lucky Friday
Career:
A competitive gymnast, Dallas Friday commenced her wakeboarding career at age
13, following a flourishing five-year gymnastic career. In her draftee period,
the girl took home the prominent Americas Cup title and silver at the 2000
X-Games, where she became the youngest contestant at the event.
Friday continued to score success by picking up the Gold at the ESPN X-Games as
well as the NBC Gravity Games (both in 2000). He also earned first place
finishes in the 2001 Malibu Open, the first two Pro tour stops, the Vans Triple
Crown Ford Ranger Pro, Cable Wakeboarding Nationals, and the X-cup. At age 15,
Friday reached the zenith of her fame by winning the 2001 World Cup. In 2003
season, the popular wakeboarder became the winner of every professional event
but one.
The four-time winner of gold medals at the X-Games, Friday was in critical
condition after wrecking at the Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup series event in
Singapore in October 2006, and had to undergo surgery in a local hospital. Her
mother announced, “She fell on a whirly bird and broke her femur in several
places. They did surgery and put a plate in Dallas’ leg and took bone marrow
from her hip to repair it. They found fluid in her lungs and had to put her on a
respirator to breathe for her to drain the fluids of her lungs.”
“I feel like I’m the luckiest girl right now. I have so many family members and
friends and fans that have sent me e-mails and prayers from all over the world.
I’m just blessed to be alive and have so many people who care. I almost died.”
Dallas Friday
Friday should be home in seven to 10 days. She plans to be back in 2007 once she
gets her doctor’s clean bill of health. She said, “I hope to compete next
Memorial Day weekend in the 48th Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament.”
