 | I do admit this movie is entertaining, and for that aspect i got my money's worth. However, as someone who studies UFO's i find this a disgrace. I know hollywood likes to distort truth, but this is a joke. Read Travis Walton's real record of what he says happened and ull be mad to cause it has nothing in common with the movie. Actually, his story is more bizzare in that he saw human-like people onboard and actually was the one scaring them away, rather than him being the victim. He was never abused in that aspect that he was being experimented on. For this, the movie recieves less stars as false crap like this slows down the progress of research and science alike and keeps us on the edge of our toes for something else, as the majority knows this movie as the version of his story versus what he really said. Either way, caution urself on the study of UFOlogy, as i find much research happens in this manner. Above all, trust in Jesus as he reins. |

 | I am tempted to give this movie five stars for one simple reason--the skill that the director has in making you actually feel the scenes on the screen. The first hour and a half of this movie is an exciting tale drawing you into the world of Travis Walton and his friends. The details are superb as you feel like you are one of the men who saw the abduction and then the person who experienced it. I felt my heart race as the abduction story unfolded--the scenes on the alien vessel being truly outstanding.
Unfortunately, for all of the movie's thrills and very in-depth drama, the last fifteen or so minutes is horribly dull and lackluster. While the details leading up to and during the abduction are exciting, the story afterwards falls off into nothingness. The movie becomes long and ends on a note that makes you feel as if the director was rushed on time--or, that the facts of this "true story" simply ran out.
In any case it is a great theatrical work. The actors and director deserve a commendation for the realism they injected into the movie. Should you rent this movie? If you want ninety minutes of intense detail and suspense, yes. If you expect the story to have any kind of conclusion, try somewhere else. |

 | One of the best UFO movies ever done to this point. This film has scenes of true terror. The charactor of Travis is played near flawlessly by D.B. Sweeney. His alien abduction is unlike any other thats been put on film. Robert Patricks' role as the concerned friend is a remarkably expressed down to Earth portrayal. James Garner plays an outstanding ultra suspicious investigator. The rural setting adds an understandable skepticism about the bizzare UFO story. The aliens look fakeish, but that doesn't take away from their cold, heartless actions and the otherworldly image they give off. With the same content this movie could easily have been a back shelf bomb. However, careful analysis of thoughts and ideas prevailed. It is based on a supposedly true story and handles it well. The movie also deals with friendship, and the layers it has. The film is different because it deals with two seperate issues:Whats happening on Earth/Whats happening with the abducted. Good Sci-Fi all around. The dvd is quality is very good. Turn it up. |
