Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Kansas-born designer Constant Ramos is familiar among the reality show fans as part of the Emmy-winning series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (2004-2006). With over 15 years’ experience in designing, the owner of Constance Ramos Design has worked for various corporations, including Sony Corporation of America and Walt Disney Imagineering. The compass of her work includes retail, commercial and residential projects in 12 states, as well as Venezuela.
In addition to her design talents, Ramos appeared as Rose Medema in the television movie Gone in the Night (1996) and a waiter in the Patty Duke starring vehicle A Matter of Justice (1993, TV).
Childhood and Family:
In Kansas City, Missouri, Constance Ramos was born on February 25, 1972. She graduated from Kansas State University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree. In 2005, she was married to J.J. Carrell, whom she met through her work on the TV shows “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” He recommended a family Connie and the Home Makeover team built a house for.
Gone in the Night
With a Bachelor of Architecture degree in her pocket, the Kansas native Constance Ramos decided to pursue a career in design. She founded a company named “Constance Ramos Design” and through her company she has worked for diverse firms such as Mattel, Inc., Sony Corporation of America, Walt Disney Imagineering, I.M. Pei & Partners and her family’s company, Ramos Design Corporation. Her projects contain the design of commercial structures, regional shopping centers, multi-family complexes, cinemas, hotels, resorts, themed retail centers and educational institutions.
The talented Ramos has served as a production designer, technical director, master of properties, wardrobe designer, set carpenter and set painter so that many regional theaters rely on her effectual and unforgettable designs to enhance the story. The interiors and graphics designer also has lent her entertainment production design talents to recording artists Erykah Badu and Todd Rundgren, as well as to television commercials for Hallmark Cards, Inc., Kodak, H & R Block and Wal-Mart.
A successful designer, Ramos has branched out to acting. She appeared as a waitress in the made-for-television film A Matter of Justice (1993), starring Patty Duke, Martin Sheen, Alexandra Powers and Jason London, and portrayed Rose Medema on the television film Gone in the Night (1996), helmed by Bill L. Norton and starring Shannen Doherty and Kevin Dillon.
Ramos is now enjoying a television success as part of the popular reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which won Emmys for Outstanding Reality Program in 2005 and in 2006.
