SummaryWow!
Content
This film was surprisingly good, reminded me of what a true virtuoso Meryl Streep really is...she really takes over every scene. Clint Eastwood is a competent actor but he can't hold a candle to her, she really is just magnificent.

As I understand it, the bestseller it's based on is awful though, so this is one of those rare cases when the movie far surpasses the book instead of the other way around.

What to say about it? Plot-wise, it's one of those "ships passing in the night, a night that changed their lives forever" things except that instead of one night we have a 4-day affair, and one in which the outcome is a bit more convoluted than usual---lest I spill the beans for those who have not seen it, let's just say that there's a fair bit of "responsibility" and "self-transcendence" involved.

It has a bit of the languid, leisurely pacing that Eastwood-directed films tend to have and a few clumsy moments with the minor characters but the scenes of Eastwood and Streep togther never failed to hold my attention, both beautifully shot and superbly acted especially by Streep.

SummaryA grand love story of the highest order...
Content
Many people know me for my penchant with horror and science fiction movies. You have only to read the vast majority of the reviews I have posted here to ascertain that fact for yourself. Catching me in front of a film like this, although I do happen to enjoy dramas, is both rare and altogether surprising.

"The Bridges of Madison County" is quite possibly the single most beautiful motion picture I have ever seen in my entire life! I never took the time to read James Waller's novel, because everyone I asked said it was terrible. This film adaptation, however, will bring the most jaded person to flooding tears. I can say that because I, myself, break down each and every time I watch it. The plot deals with some rather sensitive issues, to be sure. But it also touches upon raw emotions of such gentle intamcy that so few other films of this specific genre have the courage to explore.

Clint Eastwood is a visionary wonder. His talent astonishes me to no conceivable end, and he just did a phenomenal job at putting this film together. He not only directed and starred, but he also helped write the film's unforgettable musical score.

Speaking of music, this has a soundtrack you would be hard pressed to beat. From Dinah Washington and Irene Kral to Johnny Hartman and Barbara Lewis, this is music that moves you as much as the movie itself.

Mere words are simply not enough to express the sheer adoration I have for this production. It is a first-rate movie from a master craftsman in top form. Do not pass it up.

SummaryQuite good
Content
I loved this movie- the story of a typical housewife who does everything right and gets caught up in a wonderfully erotic romance. Her dreary normal costumes hide her true passionate nature, and when the time comes to make her choice, she decides on the ultimate sacrifice- returning to monotony.

Her kids, as future selves, are reading her diary and want to remember her as the quiet monotonous mom they knew, not as THIS.

As I said, this movie was fantastic, my only complaint was that it was too concentrated on this mother being such a martyr- no one would really have missed her had she taken off her crown of thorns and joined Robert Kincaid at the end. I understand that her sacrifice was difficult, but she as a character didn't really seem that necessary so the audience remains a little confused as to why she wouldn't give up her boring life. Definitely worth it, though.

SummaryMeryl Streep and Clint Eastwood are Mesmerizing!
Content
When I saw this film ten years ago, I was still in high school, and my classmates didn't understand why I loved it. I guessed I am just an emotional person and more mature, so that I could appreciate this "emotionally impacting, romantic, and beautiful film". I am glad to have this film in my DVD collection now. This may not have been Meryl Streep's most acclaimed role, but it's on my favorite list, because her portrayal of an Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson is flawless. She uses body language so effective here( as well as in The Hours) to convey her her inner emotions, and once again she proved to the world that she's best at imitating an accent. This film scored her 10th Oscar nomination!

It's a simple story about love and romance arriving into Francesca's mundune married life again when a world-travelling photographer(Robert Kincaid/Clint Eastwood) lured her into photographing her in the local sights. During the few days spent together with Robert, she fell alive again and they fall in love before he leaves town, and she's being persuaded to ran away with him....

Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep are so mesmerizing together. This is probably his best triple-duty effort as actor, producer, and director.
