Stardust Hero Background: "...I live in London and I love it here so I’m not going to be moving abroad. You know I’ve had to spend a bit more time there and it’s great it’s sunny! I plan to do as much work in the UK as I possibly can. I’m still young you know I don’t feel the pressure to become the next James Bond!" Charlie Cox. British actor Charlie Cox first appeared on television as a guest in a 2002 episode of BBC legal drama series "Judge John Deed" and landed his film debut alongside Gael García Bernal in the independent psychological thriller ''Dot the I'' (2003). After acting opposite Al Pacino in the film version of William Shakespeare's play, "The Merchant of Venice" (2004), and alongside Heath Ledger in Lasse Hallström's comedy film "Casanova" (2005), Cox snagged his first starring role in the summer blockbuster "Stardust" (2007), as the heroic Tristan Thorn, opposite the likes of Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes and Sienna Miller. Next, the 5' 11" player with brown hair and brown eyes will star in a true story-based adventure/comedy film titled "Stone of Destiny," alongside Billy Boyd, Robert Carlyle, Kate Mara and Brenda Fricker. He will also make his West End debut in 2008 in ''The Lover'' and ''The Collection,'' a double-bill of Harold Pinter works at the Comedy Theatre. London Home Childhood and Family: The youngest of five children, Charlie Cox was born on December 21, 1982, in London, England, UK. As a child, he attended Ashdown House and Sherborne School in Dorset, where he received the Gerald Pitman Award for Acting. He was later trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Charlie, who has traveled to Australia, parts of the USA, Europe and Hong Kong, is currently living in London with his brother and with his dog Dickon. Stone of Destiny Career: Sharpening his craft at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Charlie Cox began his career with a guest spot in a December 2002 episode of BBC legal drama series starring Martin Shaw, "Judge John Deed." In the following year, he made his film alongside Gael García Bernal in the independent psychological thriller written and directed by Matthew Parkhill, "Dot the I." The new comer subsequently received more film roles, as Danny in Simon Shore's smart, sexy and poignantly accurate comedy drama "Things to Do Before You're 30" (2004; with Dougray Scott, Emilia Fox and Billie Piper), based on the Dutch feature film "All Stars," and as Lorenzo to Zuleikha Robinson's Jessica in Michael Radford's movie based on William Shakespeare's play, "The Merchant of Venice" (2004; alongside Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Joseph Fiennes and Lynn Collins). He also made his first major Hollywood role in Lasse Hallström's comedy film based on the life of the famous/notorious 18th century Italian adventurer and womanizer, "Casanova" (2005; starring Heath Ledger in the title role), as Giovanni Bruni, who continues Casanova's womanizing legend in his place. In 2006, Cox returned to the small screen to star in the made-for-television movies "Lewis," as a disruptive, maladjusted math student who will soon inherit his father's automotive empire, and "A for Andromeda," a low-budgeted BBC sci-fi movie starring Kelly Reilly. That same year, he also appeared in "Tirante el Blanco," a Spanish film directed by Vicente Aranda which was based on the 1490 Catalan language epic romance of the same name by Joanot Martorell. In the film that stars Casper Zafer as the title character, Cox portrayed Diafebus, alongside co-stars Esther Nubiola, Victoria Abril and Leonor Watling. ''I just auditioned. I was just one of the guys lucky enough to get an audition. From that point on I went for a recall and went back again. It was a long process but eventually I got there!'' Charlie Cox (on getting the role in the 2007 film ''Stardust''). Cox eventually landed his first starring role in film in Matthew Vaughn's adult fairytale based on Neil Gaiman's novella, "Stardust" (2007). In the summer blockbuster that stars an ensemble cast including Robert De Niro, Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer and Sienna Miller, Cox portrayed the heroic Tristan Thorn, a young man who tries to win the heart of his beloved (played by Miller) by going on a quest to retrieve a fallen star into the magical realm. On working alongside Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer, Cox admitted, ''It was pretty spectacular; not an opportunity you get everyday. It was hugely beneficial to me so early in my career.'' And when asked what it likes working romantically with both Sienna Miller and Claire Danes, he reacted, ''It was pretty cool! Can’t ask for much more than that in your job can you?'' Cox will soon complete his upcoming film with writer/director Charles Martin Smith, a true story-based adventure/comedy titled "Stone of Destiny," in which he will play the lead role of Ian Hamilton, a dedicated nationalist who reignited Scottish national pride in the 1950s with his daring raid on the heart of England to bring the Stone of Scone, a beloved symbol of Scottish pride, back to its country of origin. Joining Cox in the star studded cast are Billy Boyd, Robert Carlyle, Kate Mara and Brenda Fricker. Meanwhile, Cox appeared on stage in ''The Lover'' and ''The Collection,'' a double-bill of two Harold Pinter dark sexual one-act plays directed by Jamie Lloyd. His co-stars are Timothy West, Tara Fitzgerald and Richard Coyle - best known for BBC2 comedy ''Coupling.'' In ''The Collection,'' Fitzgerald and Cox will play two fashion designers who have a one-night stand while at a fashion event in Leeds. While in ''The Lover,'' Cox literally has a walk-on part, as a milkman. The play reportedly will open at the West End’s Comedy Theatre on January 29, 2008 (previews from 15 January). About his involvement in the stage project, Cox said, "You hope to work with great writing and exciting directors and here I was presented with almost the epitome, the ultimate of that." Awards: ---
