 | Wow. Where to start? To simply put it into words, The Empire Strikes Back is one of the best films EVER. I could watch this at least once a week, and it will still never get old. So you ask, what makes The Empire Strikes Back such a beloved classic?
What makes Episode V such a great film is a combination of both inner and outer conflicts. There is the outer conflict, or the big picture. The Rebel Alliance are being persued by the evil Galactic Empire after the rebels destroyed the Death Star. There is also the inner conflicts. There is the whole thing with Leia and Han Solo falling in love and of course, Luke Skywalker trying to become the jedi that he is destined to become.
Most films that don't have a "happy" ending are usually not too good, but The Empire Strikes Back is a huge exception. As you probably alrady know, The Empire Strikes Back has one of the greatest climax scenes ever with one of the most well-known movie quotes of all time (yeah, I'm referring to "Luke, I am your father"). This just adds even more spice to the already hot story line. Luke is supposed to destroy Darth Vader, knowing that Vader is his own father?!? I guarantee that after your first watch, you will immediately want to view Return of the Jedi to see what the final outcome between Luke and Vader would be.
Overall, this film is well deserving of all the praise it receives. This film has it all. Everything from action scenes, to comedy, to "dark" themes scenes, love scenes, etc. The factor that elevates Empire Strikes Back is the characters. Leia, Han Solo, Lando, Luke, C-3PO, Yoda, and R2-D2 are all lovable characters. Also, the father-son factor that is added to the end of the film is very strong and moving. |

 | The "All Terrain Armored Transports" attacking the winter base on the Planet Hoth remains one of the most remarkable achievements in film history. The introduction of a 'muppet' as a main character in a space opera a well realized risk. And the twist of the man in black telling the man in white that they are related left people talking for years... until the question was put to rest in THE RETURN OF THE JEDI. The EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is the richest of the Star Wars films, boasting great locations, more mature performances and a rousing musical score by the unstoppable John Williams... (That score, a masterpiece on its own...) Maybe, the Star Wars series has more greatness to come. Maybe not. But we always have EMPIRE... |

 | As it's been said before, "The Empire Strikes Back" is the best of the "Star Wars" movies. I doubt you will find much contention on that topic.
In my opinion, it is the only one of the six that rises anywhere above just an average movie. The question then is, why this one and not the others?
The simple answer is that "The Empire Strikes Back" is a grown-up movie. Unlike the other movies in this series that rely primarily on action sequences and special effects to draw in the audience, "The Empire Strikes Back" captures you with its story.
"The Empire Strikes Back" picks up where "Star Wars" leaves off. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and his rebel comrades are on the run as the Galactic Empire has regrouped from its setback and is on the march to crush the rebellion. Luke is unavailable to help his friends as he has been sent to Yoda to finish his Jedi training.
With "The Empire Strikes Back" we learn where Luke's Jedi powers come from and why he has such a hard time controlling his emotions. We also learn more about the exact nature of the rebellion and exactly how evil Darth Vader is.
George Lucas created a movie with "The Empire Strikes Back" that he will clearly never surpass. It is unfortunate that the "Star Wars" films have been left entirely in his hands as they could have been so much more than what they have become. However, Lucas did create one excellent movie from the six that likely will stand the test of time beyond the generation that grew up with the original films. |

 | From the quote I found after watching number III Revenge of the sith "High ambitions can lead to self destruction", I realized that Luke had the same influence from his father.
Because of love for his friends , Han and Leia, he risked his hand for them. As Obi-Wan said, he had too much impatience.
His ambition of saving his friends and changing fate showed the result of the quote. Self Destruction. Just like his father, Anakin, he totally destroyed himself just to save his beloved wife.
I really enjoyed every bit of action and reconciliation in the movie. The part where Darth Vader revealed that he was Luke's father really stunned me that the rest of the day , I hardly talked.
I was glad to see Luke evolve into a somewhat powerful jedi. But his powers weren't enough to defeat the one and only Darth Vader. Chop! Yer hand is gone Mate!
The Jedi courage and faith in themselves was such an inspiration. It made me feel like anything is actually possible. Can inspire anyone who watches it and it's still one classic masterpiece. It's even better that the new movies. |
