Candice Accola is an American actress and singer/songwriter. She is
best known to TV audiences for playing Caroline Forbes on the CW hit
series “The Vampire Diaries” (2009-?), from which she
picked up a Teen Choice Award. She is also a regular cast on the
comedy series “Dating Rules from My Future Self” (2012).
Accola released her debut album, “It's Always the Innocent
Ones,” in December 2006.
Accola is a supporter of the It Gets Better Project, a project that has
made it a goal to prevent suicide among LGBT youth, associated with The
Trevor Project. She is close friends with her “Vampire
Diaries” co-stars Nina Dobrev, Katerina Graham, Ian Somerhalder
and Michael Trevino.
Accola is single and has been living in Los Angeles, California since July 2009.

Childhood and Family:
Candice Accola was born on May 13, 1987, in Houston, Texas. She is the
daughter of Kevin, a cardio-vascular and thoracic surgeon, and Carolyn,
a retired environmental engineer. She grew up in Edgewood, Florida and
was educated at Lake Highland Preparatory School. Candice has a younger
brother.

Career:
Since age 14, Candice Accola has emerged as a skilled singer and
songwriter. She scored a record contract at the age of 16. Accola's
music has achieved international success, and she continues to record
and write her own music. In December 2006, she launched her debut
album, “It's Always the Innocent Ones,” which enjoyed
significant success in Japan. In 2008, Accola became a background
singer at the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert
Tour.
Accola tried her hand in acting when she was 20 years old. She was cast
as Annalisa / Tom in her first film, “Pirate Camp” (2007),
where she co-starred opposite Seth Adkins and Michael Adam Hamilton. It
was followed by appearances in Jason Reitman's “Juno”
(2007, starred Ellen Page, Michael Cera and Jennifer Garner), Thomas
Mignone's “On the Doll” (2007, opposite Brittany Snow, Josh
Janowicz and Clayne Crawford) and Kedar Korde's “X's &
O's” (2007, starred Clayne Crawford, Judy Marte and Warren
Christie). She also made her TV debut as Amy in an episode of
“How I Met Your Mother” called “Something
Borrowed” (2007).
In addition to her touring gig as an opening act for the Hannah
Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, Accola
co-starred as Joann in the horror/thriller film “Deadgirl”
in 2008. The cast also included Shiloh Fernandez and Noah Segan. In the
following year, she guest starred in “Supernatural” and
“Greek,” playing Amanda Heckerling and Alice, respectively.
She returned to features with a small part as Sharon in Barra Grant's
“Love Hurts” (2009).
It was also in 2009 that Accola got her breakout role as Caroline
Forbes, the daughter of the sheriff of Mystic Falls, Liz Forbes, on the
teen drama series “The Vampire Diaries,” developed by Kevin
Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the book series of the same name
written by L. J. Smith. The show premiered on The CW Television Network
on September 10, 2009. Accola won a Choice TV: Female Scene
Stealer category at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards for her
role.
In 2010, Accola portrayed Sophia in the crime film
“Kingshighway,” opposite Clayne Crawford, Lina Esco and
Burt Young. She also appeared in an episode of “Drop Dead
Diva” called “Begin Again.” In 2011, she co-starred
opposite Antonio Del Prete, Simon Rex and Monique Gabriela Curnen in
the Lichelli Lazar-Lea drama/thriller film “The Truth About
Angels.”
In 2012, Accola was cast as Chloe Cunningham in the comedy series
“Dating Rules from My Future Self,” which premiered
on January 9, 2012. Her co-stars in the series include Shiri Appleby,
Alison Becker and Mircea Monroe.
