16 Wishes
Background:
Cainan Wiebe is a two time Young Artist Award winning Canadian actor,
thanks to his performances on the short film “A Pickle”
(2009) and the TV film “16 Wishes” (2010). He also received
several Young Artist nominations for his works in the TV series
“Sanctuary”, “Dinosaur Train” and
“Supernatural” and the TV film “Beyond Sherwood
Forest” (2009). Wiebe also appeared in the films “The
Twilight Saga: Eclipse” (2010), “Diary of a Wimpy
Kid” (2010) and “Sucker Punch” (2011).
Currently, Wiebe resides in Langley, British Columbia. He has a Black
Belt in Martial Arts. His other interests include triathlon, musical
theatre, singing, guitar, harmonica, ice skating, hockey, competitive
swimming, summer sports-baseball and soccer.

Childhood and Family:
Cainan Wiebe was born on August 27, 1995, in British Columbia, Canada.
His older sister, Hailey Morgan, is a local singer/songwriter in
Langley, BC.
A Pickle
Career:
Cainan Wiebe kicked off his professional career in 2004 by having a
guest spot in an episode of Showtime's comedy/drama series “Dead
Like Me,” which starred Ellen Muth and Laura Harris. Two
years later, he played the role of Duncan Germaine in the episodes
“Gone: Part 1” and “Gone: Part 2” of the USA
Network sci fi series “The 4400.” The same year, Wiebe made
his feature film acting debut as Billy Lenz (5 & 12 years) in the
slasher flick “Black Christmas,” which starred Katie
Cassidy, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Crystal Lowe, Lacey Chabert, Michelle
Trachtenberg, Oliver Hudson, Kristen Cloke, and Andrea Martin. Written
for the screen and directed by Glen Morgan, the film was a moderate
success at the box office, but received generally negative
reviews from critics. The actor also appeared as Mud-Bud Boy in
“Air Buddies” (2006), the 6th film in the “Air
Bud” series and the first in the direct to video spin off series
“Air Buddies.”
In 2007, Wiebe was cast as Alexei in the successful web series
“Sanctuary.” He went on to reprise his part when the show
was made into a TV series by the Syfy network in 2008. For his
appearance in the show, the actor was nominated for Young Artist Awards
for Best Performance in a TV Series - Recurring Young Actor in 2008 and
for Best Performance in a TV Series - Guest Starring Young Actor in
2009.
2007 also saw Wiebe guest star in television shows like
“Bratz” (as Ashton), “Masters of Horror” (as
Young Toot) and “Psych” (as Isaac), and play Kalm in the TV
miniseries “Tin Man” (Sci Fi Channel), which starred Zooey
Deschanel, Neal McDonough, Alan Cumming, Raoul Trujillo, Kathleen
Robertson and Richard Dreyfuss. Besides, he was cast as Ryan in the
direct to video “The Sandlot: Heading Home,” the second
sequel to the 1993 theatrical film “The Sandlot” and the
first direct to video sequel “The Sandlot 2”, and had a
small role in the horror film “Whisper”, starring Josh
Holloway, Blake Woodruff, Joel Edgerton, Sarah Wayne Callies and
Dulé Hill.
In 2008, Wiebe starred as Charlie in the Karen Nielsen directed short
“A Pickle,” which was shown at the 2008 New York City
Shorts Film Festival on September 20, the 2008 Edmonton International
Film Festival on October 2, and the 2009 Newport Beach International
Film Festival in April. Delivering a bravura performance, Wiebe was
handed a 2009 Young Artist for Best Performance in a Short Film - Young
Actor. The same year, he played the role of Pete in the direct to video
“Snow Buddies,” opposite Dominic Scott Kay, Mike Dopud,
John Kapelos, Charles C. Stevenson, Dylan Sprouse and Kris
Kristofferson, and made a guest appearance in an episode of the
Canadian comedy series “Robson Arms” called “Gila
Monster.”
Wiebe appeared as Barry Cook in an episode of
“Supernatural” called “After School Special”
(2009) and was nominated for a 2010 Young Artist in the category of
Best Performance in a TV Series - Guest Starring Young Actor 13 and
Under for his performance. It was the actor's third appearance on the
show after guest starring in the episodes “Wishful
Thinking” (2008) and “Faith” (2006), where he
appeared as Bully #1 and Boy Victim, respectively.
Wiebe appeared with George Lopez, Daniela Bobadilla, April Telek and
Julia Anderson in the Nickelodeon TV movie “Mr. Troop Mom”
(2009), was cast as Gareth in the Canadian TV film “Beyond
Sherwood Forest” (2009), from which he received a Young Artist
nomination for Best Performance in a TV Movie,
Miniseries or Special - Leading Young Actor, and guest starred as
Joshua in an episode of “The Guard” (2009). He provided the
voice of Derek Deinonychus in two episodes of the TV animated series
“Dinosaur Train” in 2009 and then returned to the series to
voice Tod Triceratops in the 2010 episode “Triassic Turtle/Tank's
Baby Brother.” For his work on the show, Wiebe was nominated for
a 2010 Young Artist Award in the category of Best Performance in a
Voice-Over Role - Young Actor/Actress.
In 2010, Wiebe appeared as a young vampire in the film adaptation of
Stephenie Meyer's “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” starring
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson andTaylor Lautner, was featured
alongside stars Zachary Gordon and Devon Bostick in the comedy film
“Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” which was adapted from the Jeff
Kinney book of the same name, and played the role of Rob in the
Nickelodeon TV film “The Boy Who Cried Werewolf,” which
starred Victoria Justice, Brooke Shields, Chase Ellison, Matt Winston,
Brooke D'Orsay and Christie Laing. The actor portrayed Mike Jensen in
the Disney Channel TV movie “16 Wishes”, which
starred Debby Ryan and Jean-Luc Bilodeau. The role brought Wiebe a 2011
Young Artist Award in the category of Best Performance in a TV Movie,
Miniseries or Special - Supporting Young Actor.
In 2011, Wiebe had a small part as Tommy Soldier #2 in the
action/fantasy film “Sucker Punch,” which was directed by
Zack Snyder and co-written by him and Steve Shibuya. The film, starring
Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie
Chung and Carla Gugino, gained mostly negative reviews from critics,
but was an average box office success.
In 2012, Wiebe portrayed Marshall in two episodes of the TNT action/sci
fi series “Falling Skies” and appeared as Dexter in an
episode of “R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour” called
“The Cast.” Additionally, he played the role of Shwarzstein
in the made for TV film “A Mother's Nightmare”, which
starred Annabeth Gish, Jessica Lowndes, Grant Gustin.
Wiebe will play Nick in the upcoming family film “The Ferret
Squad,” which is set to be released in theaters in the US
on March 22, 2013. His co-stars in the film include Julia Benson, Dylan
Schmid and Gabrielle Rose.
