British actress Jessica Fox is famous for portraying Nancy Hayton on
the British soap opera “Hollyoaks” (2005-?), from which she
nabbed three British Soap nominations, and its spin off series,
“Hollyoaks Later” (2008-2012). She also had recurring roles
on “The Worst Witch” (1998-2001), “Trial &
Retribution” (2000) and “The Bill” (2000-2002).
Fox supports the charity Breast Cancer Care.
Childhood and Family:
Jessica Fox was born on May 19, 1983, in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England.
The Worst Witch
Jessica Fox began her professional acting career at age 8, when she
appeared in an epic Persil commercial filmed in “Indiana
Jones” style, in Spain. She continued to perform in West End
productions like “Oliver!,” “Sound of Music”
and “Les Miserables.” In 1992, she provided the voice of
Ghost of Christmas Past in “The Muppet Christmas Carol,” an
American musical fantasy/comedy film and an adaptation of Charles
Dickens's “A Christmas Carol.”
On television, Fox made her first appearance on an episode of
“The Detectives” called “Back to Class,”
broadcast on February 29, 1996. It was followed by appearances on an
episode of “Ruth Rendell Mysteries” (1997), in the TV
miniseries “The Phoenix and the Carpet” (1997) and also in
the 1999 TV film “Holy Joe”.
From 1998 to 2001, Fox starred as the naughty but nice Enid Nightshade
on the ITV television series “The Worst Witch,” which is
based on “The Worst Witch” books by Jill Murphy. She
reprised the role in an episode of “Weirdsister College”
called “Good Friends” in (2002. Fox also portrayed Fiona
Meadows - Age 15 in two episodes of “Trial &
Retribution” in 2000 and Rachel Monroe on three episodes of
“The Bill” in 2000 and 2002. She starred as Virginia
'Rusty' Dickinson on the British made for TV film “Back
Home” (2001), opposite Sarah Lancashire as Peggy Dickinson, and
essayed the role of June aged 14 in the first episode (2002) of the TV
miniseries “The Forsyte Saga.” In 2004, she made a guest
appearance in children's show “Powers.”
Fox's big break arrived when she landed the role of Nancy Anne Osborne
(née Hayton) on the Channel 4 soap opera
“Hollyoaks.” The character first appeared on July 6, 2005.
For her work on the show, Fox received British Soap nominations, for
Best Newcomer (2006), Best Actress (2007), and Best On-Screen
Partnership (2012), sharing with Ashley Taylor Dawson. Nancy also
appeared in the spin off series “Hollyoaks Later” in
several episodes in 2008, 2010 and 2012.
