Jackie Guerrido is a Puerto Rican television weather forecaster and
journalist. She is known for presenting the weather on the popular
television program “Despierta America” (“Wake Up
America”) and Univision's afternoon newsmagazine show
“Primer Impacto” (“First Impact”) with Barbara
Bermudo. She came in the second place on the
American/Spanish-Speaking version of “Dancing with the
Stars,” “Mira Quien Baila!” (2010). In 2004, Guerrido
was named the Good Will Ambassador of the Puerto Rican Day Parade
celebrated in New York City.
Guerrido has been married twice. She is the mother of two.
Childhood and Family:
Jackie Guerrido was born on September 24, 1972, in San Juan, Puerto
Rico. At age 7, she, along with her mother and sister, had to live at
the “Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos,”a domestic violence
shelter in San Juan, after her mother was abused by her father. After
graduating from high school, she and her family moved to Bronx section
of New York City. She studied meteorology at the University of
Miami and journalism at the University of Florida.
Jackie was married to reggaeton singer Don Omar from 2008 until they
divorced in 2011. She then married Serafin Aguirre in 2011. Jackie has
two children, Thomas and Adieny.
After doing voice overs, Jackie Guerrido got an early journalism job on
WSKQ's morning show, “El Vacilon de la Mañana”
(“Good times in the morning”). It was followed by a gig
with WRMA (106.7) in Miami and she settled down there. After a year
working at “Romance,” she joined the HBC Radio Company, in
which she co-hosted a radio program with the duties of broadcasting
news and traffic conditions, and finally had her own music show at WRTO
(98.3). Besides, Guerrido began appearing on the small screen as a
traffic reporter for Miami's Telemundo affiliate,
Guerrido's career continued to increase when she received an offer from
Univision to become the meteorologist for “Al Amanacer de
Noticias 23” (“Morning News at Channel 23”), a
then-morning show for Univision flagship WLTV. She also spent several
years presenting the weather on “Despierta America”
(“Wake Up America”), which emerges as one of the most
well known television programs among the Hispanic community in the
United States. Currently, along with Barbara Bermudo, Guerrido presents
the weather for Univision's afternoon newsmagazine show “Primer
Impacto” (“First Impact”).
In 2010, Guerrido took part in the reality television show
“Mira Quien Baila!”, which broadcast on Univision in the
United States. She finished the second place and was awarded $10,000
dollars (US), which she donated to the “Casa Protegida Julia de
Burgos, a domestic violence shelter.
