Lola: Érase una vez
Eiza Gonzalez is an Mexican actress and singer. She first came to
prominence at age 16 with her portrayal of Lola the title character of
the Mexican telenovela “Lola...Érase una vez”
(“Lola...Once Upon A Time”; 2007-2008). She continued to
gain notice for her roles on “Mujeres Asesinas 2” (2009),
“Sueña conmigo” (2010-2011) and “Amores
verdaderos” (2012-2013). Eiza has released two solo albums:
“Contracorriente” (2009) and “Te Acordarás de
Mí” (2012). She signs with EMI Televisa Music and Capitol
Presently, Eiza made headlines for being the new girl of “The
Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth following his split from
“Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus. The two were spotted
passionately kissing outside Eiza's Beverly Hills apartment complex on
September 17, 2013.
Childhood and Family:
Eiza Gonzalez Reyna was born on January 30, 1990, in Mexico City,
Distrito Federal, Mexico. Her father was killed in a car accident when
she was 12 years old. Her mother is former model Glenda Reyna. She
suffered Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) as a child and gained
treatment for the disorder throughout her childhood. She was educated
at Edron Academy and the American School Foundation in Mexico City. She
also attended the M & M Studio and Televisa's acting school, Centro
de Educación Artística, both in Mexico City. In 2008, she
briefly moved to New York City to attend acting classes at the Lee
Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
Eiza has an older brother. She speaks Spanish and English fluently and knows some Italian.
After completing her training at Televisa's acting school, Eiza
Gonzalez made her television acting debut as the protagonist Dolores
“Lola” Valente Pescado on the teen oriented Mexican
melodrama “Lola: Érase una vez”, which she starred
alongside Aarón Díaz. The show ran from February 26, 2007
to January 11, 2008 in Mexico and it had gained popularity among teens
and children in Mexico as well as internationally including Venezuela,
Spain and The United States. For her bright turn, Eiza won a TVyNovelas
for Revelation Actress of the Year and was nominated for an Oye Award
for Newcomer and a Lo Nuestro Award for Revelation Pop of the Year.
Apart from acting, Eiza displayed her musical talent on “Lola:
Érase una vez” and went on a national tour to promote the
show. She then signed a record deal with EMI Televisa to make her own
album as a solo artist. Following recording process in Texas, Los
Angeles, and Mexico City, her debut album,
“Contracorriente” (“Counter”), was eventually
released on November 24, 2009 in Mexico and later was released in the
US on January 26, 2010. To promote her single, “Mi Destino Soy
Yo”, released on October 20, 2009, she performed at
televised music festivals and concerts across Mexico.
After “Lola: Érase una vez”, Eiza jointed the cast
of the popular series “Mujeres asesina” in its second
season in 2009. There she played the supporting lead role of Gabriela
Ortega. She went on to star as Clara Molina / Roxy-Pop on the musical
teen drama “Sueña conmigo”, which ran for a season
from July 20, 2010 to April 1, 2011. The role brought her a Kid Choice
Award Argentina for TV Revelation and several awards nominations such
as Kids Choice Argentina nominations for Best Actress and
Favorite Female Character in a Series and Meus Premios Nick
nominations for Best Actress and Hair Maluco.
On June 12, 2012, Eiza returned to music with the release of her second
studio album “Te Acordarás de Mí” in Mexico.
On the same day, the album was released digitally on iTunes the United
Stated. The album reached No. 66 on the Mexican Charts in its debut. It
scored the title track “Te Acordarás de Mí”,
which was co-written by Eliza, as its first single and
“Invisible” as its follow up. She also co-wrote tow more
songs for the album.
Later that same year, Eiza was cast as Nicole “Nikki” Brizz
Balvanera de Guzman on the telenovela “Amores verdaderos”,
opposite Erika Buenfil and Eduardo Yáñez. The series ran
from September 3, 2012 until May 12, 2013. Eiza won a Teen Awards for
Best Theme Novelero and was nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award for Girl
of my Dream and a Celebrity E! Award for Celebrity of the Year for her
performance in the series.
Eiza Cristina will star opposite Manuel Balbi in Alejandro Sugich's
comedy film, “Casi treinta”, which is slated to be released
on October 4, 2013. She has completed film the role of Talula in the
upcoming short film “Flying Fairy Until Liffey” (2014).
