Childhood and Family:

Bridgit Claire Mendler, nicknamed Bridge, was born on December 18, 1992, in Washington D.C. When she was eight, her family relocated to Mill Valley, San Francisco, California. During this period, she first discovered her love in acting and began performing in plays. By age 11, she had made the decision to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

After moving from Washington DC to the San Francisco area, Bridgit Mendler started taking roles in both dramatic and musical theater, and became the youngest performer in the San Francisco Fringe Festival. She got an agent at 11 and soon did commercials and voice overs. In 2004, Mendler  landed her first screen role in the animated Indian film “The Legend of Buddha,” in which she played the role of Lucy. Two years later, she got a guest spot in the popular soap opera “General Hospital,” where she played the dream child of character Lulu Spencer. She then made her film acting debut in “Alice Upside Down” (2007), an adaptation of the Alice series penned by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.  There she portrayed Alyson Stoner's arch rival, Pamela Jones. Mendler also sang backing vocals on the song “Free Spirit” for the film's soundtrack.

Mendler was cast as Kristen Gregory in the film “The Clique,” which was adapted from the popular young adult novel series of the same name written by Lisi Harrison. It was released straight to video on November 18, 2008. She next starred opposite Lindsay Lohan, Luke Kirby, Cheryl Hines, Chris Parnell and Kevin Covais on the romantic comedy film “Labor Pains,” which was helmed by Lara Shapiro and written by Stacy Kramer. Though it was originally scheduled to be released in theatres, the film eventually received a television premiere on ABC Family on July 19, 2009 and was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 4, 2009 in the United States. The film, however, did get a theatrical release in countries like Russia, Romania, Spain, the U.A.E., Ecuador, and Mexico. She also  had a supporting role on the live-action comedy film sequel “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” (2009), directed by Betty Thomas, and made a guest appearance as Penny in an episode of “Jonas” (2009).

Still in 2009, Mendler joined the cast of the Disney Channel teen sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place” in the recurring role of  Juliet Van Heusen. She kept the role until the show came to an end in 2012. She was nominated for a Young Artist Award in the category of Best Performance in a TV Series - Recurring Young Actress 17-21 for her role on the series.

In 2010, Mendler enjoyed a big break when she was cast as Teddy Duncan on the Disney Channel sitcom “Good Luck Charlie,” opposite Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico, Eric Allan Kramer and Jason Dolley. The series debuted on April 4, 2010 and has since received positive response from both critics and audiences. For her role as Charlie's older and only sister and the second oldest of the Duncan children, Mendler was nominated for the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV: Female Breakout Star in 2010 and for Choice TV Actress: Comedy in 2013. She also received the Blimp Award nomination for Favorite Television Actress at the Kids' Choice Awards in 2012 and 2013.

Mendler provided the voice of Arrietty in the American English dub of “The Secret World of Arrietty” (2010) and recorded the song “Summertime” for the film. “Summertime” was released as a promotional single on February 2, 2012.

In 2011, Mendler starred in the lead role of Olivia in the Disney Channel Original Movie, “Lemonade Mouth.” She performed many songs for the soundtrack of the film, which was released by Walt Disney Records on April 12, 2011. The lead single “Somebody” was released on March 4, and reached No. 89 on the Billboard Hot 100. The follow up single “Determinate” peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. The same year, Mendler was cast as Appoline in the direct to video “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.” She recorded the song “This is My Paradise” for the film, which was released as a promotional single on January 11, 2011. Additionally, Mendler reprised her role as Teddy on the Disney Channel Original Movie “Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas!” (2011). She co-wrote and performed the song “I'm Gonna Run to You,” which was featured in the film and released as promotional single on November 12, 2011.

In January 2012, Mendler made a guest appearance as Callie Rogers in an episode of “House M.D.” called “Runaways.”

Mendler, who signed with Hollywood Record in 2011, released her first studio album, “Hello My Name Is...,” on October 22, 2012. The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics. It debuted at No. 30 on the US Billboard 200 chart and at No. 20 on the US Billboard Digital Albums chart. It also reached No. 17 on the Polish Albums Chart. The first single “Ready or Not” charted at No. 49 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was later certified Gold in Canada and Platinum in the US and New Zealand.
