An All-Southern Conference First Team member as a senior at Davidson in
1995-96, Brandon Williams spent his first season of pro ball in France and most
of the 1997-98 campaign in the CBA, although he did appear in nine games with
the Golden State Warriors. He began the 1998-99 season in the CBA before signing
on with the San Antonio Spurs, but he missed nearly the entire NBA schedule with
an injured foot. The 6-6 Williams averaged 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in 112
games at Davidson. As a senior he averaged 18.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2
assists while shooting .496 from the field. Previously, he posted marks of 6.7
ppg as a freshman, 14.4 ppg and 6.3 rpg as a sophomore and 14.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg
as a junior. Not drafted by any NBA team, he went to training camp with the
Toronto Raptors but was waived on October 28, 1996. He spent the 1996-97 season
playing with Le Haure in France, averaging 19.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game
while shooting .485 form the field. He spent most of the 1997-98 season with the
La Crosse Bobcats of the CBA, averaging 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6
assists in 45 games. He signed the first of two 10-day contracts with the Golden
State Warriors on February 10 and played in nine games for the Warriors,
averaging 4.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game, before the
second contract was permitted to expire. He began the 1998-99 campaign with La
Crosse, playing 10 games and averaging a team-high 22.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and
2.0 assists per game. He was signed by San Antonio as a free agent on January
21, 1999 and played in three games, scoring two points in four minutes of
action, before being placed on the injured list on February 19 due to plantar
fasciaitis in his right foot. He sat out the rest of the year. |
