 | That is what I thought the first time I saw this wonderful film. I ignored what the critics said about it, and saw it anyway, and the movie proved them wrong.
It is based loosely on the true story of Balto, the dog who led the last leg of the run to Nome to deliver diptheria antitoxin.
But this story is very good. It focuses on a dog who is half wolf. His goose friend Boris sums up Balto's feelings when he says "Not a dog. Not a wolf. All he knows is what he's not. If only he knew what he is."
It is when he discovers who he really is, and accepts it, that he saves the day. That scene where the white wolf shows Balto who he really is is worth the entire movie. That scene never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
It is well worth seeing. |

 | I watched the Land Before Time as a little child, and at the time, it was my favourite movie. But now, that Balto has come out, and I finally know about it, I've changed my mind! Balto is the best! YAH! GO BALTO! Balto is an outcast who saves his town from a deadly diphtheria epidemic! Amblimation Studios never failed to satisfy! Too bad it's closed down now (sigh) and opened DreamWorks. P.S. I'm one of those 'nuts' who hates Shrek. DreamWorks uses too much trashy and annoying pop music, while Amblimation's music was original and beautiful! For anyone who loves "If Hold On Together", you will ADORE "Reach for the Light"! |

 | I love Balto, and always have. I especially like it because it REALLY happened in real life. It has great animation and I love the goose! I like how Balto and Jenna have pups in the end(so cute!!!) It's kind of romantic(in a cartoony way) because she's a purebred lady who marries this halfbreed mutt who loves adventure. The only thing is, you're gonna half to explain to little kids why Steel is so mean. Little kids tend to talk more about the bad guys then the good one's for some reason....hmmm. But, be ready for alot of twists and turns in the lovable family adventure filled movie! |

Just watching the ending makes you want to see the whole movie! It has a little something for everyone - excitement, the beauty of the wilderness, competetion, beautiful dogs (Jenna), friendship, truth, duty, jokes - and even a little romance. Hey, people at Universal Studios, you are AWESOME! You can even compete with Walt Disney! Like I said, AWESOME! |

 | I'm 20, and yet I've never heard of Balto before this year. But now I'm an absolute fan of this movie, and I've must seen it a few dozens of time now... Why? Outside of its classical aspects, this is simply a well done animated movie. To me, there's everything you need to make a great movie : great animation, attractive characters, a beautiful story, a good production... There's no dead time, no songs (except for the excellent credits one), and it's a really good thing. But above all, I love the soundtrack, composed by James Horner (= Titanic, Braveheart...) There are probably the most awesome and varied themes I've ever heard in this kind of movies. And I'm sure everybody would have put it up among Disney's greatest movies, if it had been one! So if you've never seen it, give it a try! |
