SummarySomewhat enjoyable romp from Broken Lizard troupe
Content
Whether or not you liked Broken Lizard's last film, 2002's cult hit Super Troopers, and depending on how low brow you like your comedy, will determine how muh you like Club Dread. The five members play various counselors for washed up rocker Coconut Pete (Bill Paxton, played with wonderful comedic abandon) on his Pleasure Island, where the staff and the vacationers gleefully throw their inhibitions to the wind. However, there is a machete wielding killer on the loose, and for a horror-spoof the violence is surprisingly extreme. Full of blood and copious female nudity, the one thing Club Dread is lacking is in the laugh department. It has it's moments, but the best laughs undoubtadly come from Paxton and the insanely hot Brittany Daniel. All in all, if you dug Super Troopers, Club Dread is worth a look, but all others may want to proceed with caution.

SummaryThis movie is a classic!
Content
I was one of the lucky people who saw Club Dread BEFORE SuperTroopers, and even though i liked supertroopers a lot, i still think Club Dread is better.

Club Dread is a definate crowd pleaser to Evil Dead fans, or at least it should be. If you're a fan of offbeat horror films this one truly delivers.

Most of the comedy is actually subtlely and cleaverly executed unless you're watching it from a prejudiced mind that has seen supertroopers first and are expecting a certain kind of humor. This will dissapoint you.

Bill Paxton as Coconut Pete is the defining role of his career. Also the amount of work in writing specific songs that are catchy (and also have something to do with the plot of the film) should be a testament to the talent that the Broken Lizard comedy troop have. Its really a shame that the coconut pete songs didn't even end up on the films soundtrack, just a bunch of raver tunes.

all in all, this movie is worth a 5 in all aspects of what makes a film good, and unlike most horror movies where you get bored with watching them more than once cause you know who the killer is..you truly relish watching this one multiple times to see all the clues, and also the odd series of events that could go either way.

I enjoyed it immensely and hopefully you will to!

Club Dread (Jay Chandrasekhar, 2004)

Ah, the teen comedy slasher flick. There haven't been nearly enough of them. Student Bodies was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen (though I grant you, I was twelve or thirteen at the time), and Pandemonium was a thing of beauty. Granted, it hasn't held up too well in the ensuing two decades, but it was still a pretty fun romp. After all the horrid reviews of Club Dread, I wondered if it had messed up the formula, or whether people were simply prejudiced against teen comedy slasher flicks (Student Bodies never got the recognition it deserved, either). Well, now I've seen it, and I have to say, it was kind of a mix of both.

Plot? You need a plot? A bunch of people are on a deserted pleasure island. A serial killer starts doing his thing. The staff have to find the killer before there aren't any of them left to do so. There you go.

Honestly, it's not as bad as all that. As with Pandemonium, the writers brought in some decently big names (headlined by Bill Paxton). Unlike Pandemonium, they also brought in some very attractive young ladies whose main collective job is to bare as many parts of the body not normally bared in public as possible. For most males, this alone will serve to make the movie at least watchable. Most of the jokes are intensely stupid, though the writers (a professional comedy troupe, who were also responsible for 2001's Super Troopers), who also play most of the main parts in the film, do have the sense of timing to bring off even some of the world's oldest gags, and they introduce a few of (slightly) newer vintage that still work, as well.

There are a few decent performances. Bill Paxton makes a great washed-up Jimmy Buffett wannabe, and Jordan Ladd (Cabin Fever) turns in a performance that's surprisingly good for the first half of the film (after which she heads for stereotype city, but what can you expect?).

Not brilliant filmmaking by any means, but really, not as bad as most would have you believe. Turn off brain before watching.

SummaryElena Lyons is compared to?
Content
Elena Lyons is like a tomboy and looks like a supermodel in real life. She's like a Jiffy Lube Mechanic in a supermodels body. Elena Lyons has the greatest resemblance of American Pie and Confessions of an American Bride Shannon Elizabeth.
