Background:

American child model turned teen actress Bella Thorne is best known for her roles as CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel original series “Shake It Up” (2010-2013), from which she picked up a Young Artist Award and an Imagen Award, and as Ruthy Spivey in the short lived series “My Own Worst Enemy” (2008), which earned her a Young Artist Award. She also has appeared in other TV series like “The O.C.,” “October Road,” “Mental,” “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Big Love.” Her film credits include “Stuck on You” (2003), “Blind Ambition” (2008), “Forget Me Not” (2009) and “Raspberry Magic” (2010).

Thorne is a supporter of the Nomad organization, which helps provide education, food, and medical supplies to poor children in Africa. She sponsors a child named Lydia Kanini Kiio in Kibwezi, Kenya. An animal lover, Thorne has several cats, a wolf cub named Vodoo and a cocker spaniel named Pyro. Her hobbies include swimming, snorkeling, dancing, painting and hiking.

Childhood and Family:

Annabella Avery Thorne, who would later be popular as Bella Thorne, was born on October 8, 1997, in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Her father was of Cuban lineage. He was killed in a vehicle accident when she was 10. Bella has stated that she also has Italian and Irish descent, and Spanish was her first language. The youngest of four, she has two sisters, Dani Thorne and Kaili Thorne, and one brother, Remy Thorne. She began modeling when she was a child.   

Bella was diagnosed with dyslexia in the first grade. Because of this, she suffered peer abuse while attending a public school, and then decided to take home-schooling. Her learning improved  significantly after she went to a Sylvan Learning center.


My Own Worst Enemy

Career:

6 year old Bella Thorne made her debut in modeling by shooting a pictorial for “Parents Magazines.” Since then, she has appeared on the covers of many national and international publications and catalog covers. She also has appeared in a number of commercials and has modeled for Guess Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger, Jlo Girls, Ralph Lauren and Gap. She was appointed as the spokesperson for Texas Instruments for two years. She has moved to California to pursue an acting career.

Thorne made her big screen acting debut as MV sideline fan in “Stuck on You” (2003), a comedy film directed by the Farrelly brothers and starring Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear. She was an additional extra in 2007's “Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee,” portrayed Young Claire in “The Seer” (2007), a horror/thriller movie helmed by Luigi Desole, co-starred in the short film “Craw Lake” (2007) and appeared in the comedy/drama film “Blind Ambition” (2008), which starred Deep Katdare, Christopher Atkins and Vanessa Angel. The attractive girl also took guest spots in TV series like “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (2006), “Entourage” (2006), “The O.C.” (2007), “October Road” (2008). From 2007 to 2008, she had a recurring role as Margaux Darling in the ABC prime time soap “Dirty Sexy Money.”

Thorne got her first series regular in the NBC drama “My Own Worst Enemy,” in which she played Ruthy Spivey, the daughter and younger child of Henry and Angie Spivey (played by Christian Slater and Mädchen Amick, respectively). The role won her a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) - Supporting Young Actress. “My Own Worst Enemy” ran from October 13, 2008 to December 15 that same year.

In the following year, Thorne was featured as Wendy, one of the Monks' classmates, on the USA Network criminal dramedy series “Little Monk,” appeared in the pilot of “Mental” and guest starred in an episode of “In the Motherhood.” She also portrayed younger Angela Smith in the supernatural horror film “Forget Me Not” (2009), written and helmed by Tyler Oliver.  

After having a recurring role as Tancy Henrickson on the HBO drama “Big Love” (2010) and a one episodic part in “Wizards of Waverly Place” (2010), Thorne scored a huge success on the small screen with her role as CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel teen sitcom “Shake It Up!” (2010-), co-starring opposite Zendaya as Rocky Blue. She won a 2011 Young Artist for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) - Leading Young Actress and a 2012 Imagen for Best Young Actress – Television for the role. She also received Young Artist nominations for Outstanding Young Ensemble in a TV Series in 2011 and 2012 and for Best Performance in a TV Series - Leading Young Actress in 2012, an ALMA nomination for Favorite TV Actress - Leading Role In A Comedy in 2012 and Imagen nominations for Best Young Actress – Television in 2011 and 2013. Disney Channel announced on July 25, 2013 that “Shake It Up!” would be ending after its third season. It will end after airing its 78th episode.

Thorne had a supporting role in independent drama “Raspberry Magic” (2010), which was directed and penned by Leena Pendharkar, and was featured in the film “One Wish” (2010). She reprised her role as CeCe Jones in an episode of “Good Luck Charlie” called “Charlie Shakes It Up” (2011) and played the role of Avalon Greene in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Frenemies” (2012), based on the novel of the same name by Alexa Young.

Recently appearing in the short film “Sides & Rides” (2013), Thorne will appear in the upcoming films “The Familymoon” (2014, opposite Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore), “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” (2014, with Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner), “Home Invasion” (2014, with Natalie Martinez) and “Buttermilk Sky” (2014, opposite Louis Gossett Jr.).
