American actress and singer Ariana Grande is famous  for playing Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon sitcom “Victorious” from March 2000 to February 2013 and on its spinoff show “Sam & Cat,” which premiered on Nickelodeon on June 2013. Grande launched her first solo album, “Yours Truly,” in August 2013. It went on to become her first No. 1 album as a soloist when it reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The lead single “The Way” made the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The brown eyed beauty dated Janoskian heart-throb Jai Brooks from August 2012 to July 2013. She is now in a relationship with The Wanted's Nathan Sykes.

Grande co-founded the youth singing group, Kids Who Care, in South Florida, when she was 10. The group performed for charitable fund-raising events, and raised over $500,000 for charities in 2007 alone. As a member of the charitable organization, Broadway in South Africa, Grande performed and taught music and dance to children in Gugulethu, South Africa in summer of 2009. Her brother Frankie supported her in the event. Grande also has joined forces with Kleenex on its “Shield Sneeze Swish” campaign.

Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26, 1993, in Boca Raton, Florida, to parents Joan Grande and Edward Butera. She has an older brother named Frankie, who is an actor. She attended North Broward Preparatory School and participated in children's and community theater while growing up. Ari has a passion for fauna and has a dog named Cocoa. She has the nicknames Little Red and Riri, in addition to Ari.

Career:

Ariana Grande made her Broadway debut in 2008 in the  Jason Robert Brown musical “13,” which opened officially on October 5, 2008 and closed on January 4, 2009 after 105 performances and 22 previews. Delivering a fine turn as one of the cheerleaders, named Charlotte, Grander won the National Youth Theatre Association Award for Best Actress.

In 2009, Grande made her television debut as Bat Mitzvah Riffer in an episode of “The Battery's Down” called “Bad Bad News.” Her big break soon arrived when she was cast as Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon teen sitcom “Victorious,” opposite Victoria Justice, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett and Elizabeth Gillies. The show premiered on March 27, 2010 and was nominated for various Awards, including the Emmy nominations for Outstanding Children's Program twice in 2001 and 2012, before it ended on February 2, 2013 after a four season runs.     

Grande returned to the stage when she created the original role of  Miriam in the reading of the new musical “Cuba Libre” (2010), written and produced by Desmond Child. Shethen starred as Snow White along with Charlene Tilton and Neil Patrick Harris in the Pasadena Playhouse production of “A Snow White Christmas” from December 13-23, 2012. Grande reprised her role as Cat Valentine in an episode of “ iCarly” called “iParty with Victorious,” aired on June 11, 2011. Her voice could also be heard as Snowflake in the Spanish animated film “Snowflake, the White Gorilla” and as an animated fairy, Princess Diaspro, in several episodes of the Nickelodeon series “Winx Club: Enchantix” (both 2011).

The first soundtrack of “Victorious,” “Victorious: Music from the Hit TV Show,”  was released in August 2011, with Grande singing the urban pop track “Give it Up,”  along with Elizabeth Gillies. She provided backing vocals to the song “Leave It All to Shine,” which were performed by Miranda Cosgrove and Victoria Justice and can be heard on the first soundtrack from “Victorious,” and also was featured on the songs “5 Fingaz to the Face” (from “Victorious 2.0” album) and Leon Thomas III's “Take Care.” Grande performed “L.A. Boyz” with Victoria Justice, the first single released from “Victorious 3.0.,” the third soundtrack for “Victorious.” The music video of the song was released on October 18, 2012. The same year, she also performed a duet with MIKA on the single version of his track “Popular Song.”       

Grande returned to play Cat Valentine on the teen sitcom “Sam & Cat,” a crossover spin-off/sequel of both “iCarly” and “Victorious.” The show, which she stars in opposite Jennette McCurdy as Sam Puckett (from “iCarly), debuted on Nickelodeon on June 8, 2013. She also played the role of Amanda Benson on the Nickelodeon made for TV film “Swindle” (2013), starring opposite Jennette McCurdy, Noah Crawford and Chris O'Neal.     

On August 30, 2013, Grande released her first studio album “Yours Truly” through Republic Records. Formerly named “Daydreamin',” the album, which was influenced by Grande's idols such as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse, received mostly positive reviews from music critics upon its release and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 by selling about 138,000 units in its opening week. The album also enjoyed a strong chart position in other countries like the UK, Netherlands, Canada, Ireland, Australia and Denmark. The first single from the album, “The Way” (released March 26, 2013), reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received double platinum certification in the US. The song was certified gold in Australia.  The sophomore single “Baby I” (released on July 22, 2013) reached No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the third single “Right There” (featuring Big Sean) (released on August 6, 2013), reached No. 84 on the the same chart .  

In support of her album, Grande embarked on her debut concert tour, The Listening Sessions. Its firts leg lasted from August13, 2013 to September 22, 2013. Grande previously served as an opening act for Justin Bieber's “Believe Tour” (2013) in Jacksonville, Tampa, Atlanta.    

Grande was nominated for four categories at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. They were Choice Summer Music Star: Female, Candie's Choice Style Icon, Choice Music Breakout Artist, and Choice Music: Love Song for “The Way,” the latter of which she shared with Mac Miller.
