American actress April Bowlby is perhaps most known for portraying Stacy Barrett on Lifetime's “Drop Dead Diva” (2009-?) and as Kandi Harper on the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” (2006-2007, 2012).


Childhood and Family:

April Bowlby was born on July 30, 1980, in Vallejo, California, as April Michelle Bowlby. She relocated to Manteca, California when she was a child and enrolled at East Union High School. She took ballet, French and marine biology at Moorpark College, in Moorpark, California. She later studied drama with Ivana Chubbuck.         

Two and a Half Men


April Bowlby made her television acting debut in an episode of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”called “What's Eating Gilbert Grissom?” (2004), where she played Kaitlin Rackish. In the following year, she played Jenny Lee in an episode of “CSI: NY” called “Crime and Misdemeanor” and also made her first appearance in the CBS hit sitcom “Two and a Half Men” in the episode “Crime and Misdemeanor,”  where she portrayed Kimber. Bowlby returned to “Two and a Half Men” in January 2006, this time to play the recurring role of Alan's second ex-wife, Kandi. The actress also guest starred in “Stacked” (2005, playing Jasmine) and “Freddie” (2005, playing Sydney).

Bowlby made her television movie debut in the Sci-Fi Channel action/adventure “Sands of Oblivion” (2007), starring Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin and Victor Webster. She went on to break into the big screen with a role on “All Roads Lead Home” (2008), a drama/family film directed by Dennis Fallon, written by Douglas Delaney and starring Peter Coyote, Jason London and Vivien Cardone. In 2007, Bowlby started a recurring role as Barney's obsessional former girlfriend Meg on the CBS popular sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.”

Bowlby was cast in the regular role of Stacy Barrett, Jane's/Deb's longtime best friend and roommate, on the comedy/drama series “Drop Dead Diva,” starring Brooke Elliott as Jane, a plus size lawyer whose body is inhabited by the soul of a fashion model. The show premiered on Lifetime on July 12, 2009. On October 25, 2013, Lifetime renewed the series for a sixth and final season.

Bowlby guest starred in the television series “Kath & Kim” (2009, playing Ashley) and “Psych” (2010, playing Lauren Lassiter). On the wide screen, she played Mia on the comedy film “The Slammin' Salmon” (2009), which was directed by  Kevin Heffernan, who also starred in the film along with Michael Clarke Duncan and Jay Chandrasekhar, and was cast as Gabe's mean, selfish wife on the romance/comedy film “From Prada to Nada” (2011).
