Summarycrappy cover art
Content
I never bought the original issue DVD because, in addition to the lack of features, the DVD had bad cover art of spaceships flying over the modern Los Angeles skyline. It appears they only modified that design a little bit with this release. Paramount should have followed the leads of Universal and Warner Bros. who routinely use original art for their DVD packaging, instead of this photoshopped crap.

Great old movie, with amazing "special effects" for it's time. We just saw the new Tom Cruse version, and the 1953 version beat it by far with a much better, and easier to understand plot. While some of the acting in the 1953 version leaves something to be desired, if you can get over some of the acting, old fashions, and old vehicles, I think you'll agree that its a much better flick.

SummaryGreat movie from a Great Seller !
Content
This movie is so much better than the remake. This videotape was in great condition, crystal clear. It is so cool to see the special effects that they had back in 1952 and be impressed. The use of nuclear weapons was very interesting given the world situation today. A very worthwhile buy.

SummaryOld Time Cinema
Content
I like to compare the original movie with the ones they make today. I have yet to see the new War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. I like the original flick. For it's time it was top notch. I had fun watching it, because it brought back memories to the first time I saw it as a kid. Freaked me out. I was scared for days.

SummaryWar between War of the Worlds
Content
The color of the 50's "War of the Worlds" is remarkable. The original movie was fun, exciting, somewhat more believable with a lot less screaming and fewer mega-effects. In fact, the new 2005 "War of the Worlds" would get three stars out of five - somehow the fun of the old sci-fi's just can't be replaced by just throwing money into the production.
