Career:

Angie Harmon began her career as a model. She graced the runways for Donna Karan,Isaac Mizrahi Valentino,  Calvin Klein,  Ralph Lauren, Giorgi Armani and Versace and also appeared in many magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, Esquire and Cosmopolitan. After a few years of modeling, and taking some acting lessons, she decided to give acting a try by relocating to Los Angeles.

Harmon's first break arrived when she was discovered by David Hasselhoff on an airline flight. The actor offered the brunette beauty an audition for his spin off  show, “Baywatch Nights”, even though she had no acting experience. She recalled, “It's a real life Cinderella story. Acting had been my dream since I was a kid, but this was my first audition for a television series. I didn't want to blow it”.

Harmon finally secured the lead role of private detective Ryan McBride in “Baywatch Nights” (1995), the spin off of the popular television series “Baywatch”. Portraying a tough-as-nails character, Harmon achieved fame thanks to the huge success of the show. She was on the show from its debut on September 30, 1995 until it ended on May 16, 1997.

Harmon made a guest appearance in an episode of  “Renegade” called “Offshore Thunder”, which aired on November 6, 1995, and reprised her role as Ryan McBride in a 1996 episode of “Baywatch” called “Sail Away”. In 1997, she made her big screen debut in “Lawn Dogs”, a drama film directed by John Duigan and starring Mischa Barton and Sam Rockwell. It met with critical acclaim and won numerous awards at film festivals in Europe.

After “Baywatch Nights” came to an end, Harmon landed a regular role as FBI agent Amanda Reardon on the ABC drama series “C-16: FBI”, opposite Eric Roberts. Unluckily for Harmon, the show failed to top the rating charts and was canceled after 12 episodes.

In 1998, Harmon experienced a big breakthrough when she joined the cast of NBC’s long-running crime drama “Law & Order” by playing sexy Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael. She stayed with the show until 2001 and was nominated for Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series four times in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002.  Her character also appeared in six episodes of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” between 1999 and 2000.

In the new millennium, Harmon provided the voice of Commissioner Barbara Gordon on three episodes of the animated television series “Batman Beyond” (2000) and the direct-to-video animated film “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker” (2000). She also co-starred with Charlie Sheen in Steve Rash’s comedy film “Good Advice” (2001, played Page Hensen), starred in the television movie “Video Voyeur: The Susan Wilson Story” (2002), played Ronica Miles in the hit “Agent Cody Banks” (2003), which starred Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff, appeared with Christian Slater, Selma Blair, Robert Loggia and Colm Feore in the thriller movie “The Deal” (2005) and portrayed Veronica Cleeman in the remake “Fun with Dick and Jane” (2005), starring Jim Carrey and Téa Leoni as the title characters. She also was cast as persistent newspaper reporter in “End Game” (2006), opposite Cuba Gooding, Jr., starred in the direct to video “Glass House: The Good Mother” (2006) and was featured in the western film “Seraphim Falls” (2006), starring Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Michael Wincott, Tom Noonan, and Ed Lauter.

Harmon returned to the small screen as a regular cast in the NBC short lived medical series “Inconceivable” (2005), opposite Ming-Na, Jonathan Cake and Mary Catherine Garrison. She then appeared in the pilot of “ Secrets of a Small Town” (2006) before landing the leading role of Lindsay Boxer on the ABC legal drama “Women's Murder Club”, which ran on the network from October 12, 2007 to May 13, 2008. In 2008, she portrayed a philanthropist named Lilly Tartikoff in the Lifetime television movie “Living Proof”, which was directed by Dan Ireland and starred Harry Connick, Jr. She went on to guest starred in “Samantha Who?” (2009) and “Chuck” (2010).

Harmon returned to the TV spotlight when she was cast in the main role of Detective Jane Rizzoli on the TNT police procedural series “Rizzoli & Isles”, opposite Sasha Alexander as medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles. The show premiered on July 12, 2010. In 2012, Harmon won a Gracie Allen in the category of Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Series or Special for her work on the series.
